Why should life in sorrow be spent,
When pleasure points to the road,
Wherein each traveler with content,
May throw off the ponderous load?

And instead, in ample measure,
Gather fruits too long left ripe;
What's this world without its pleasure?
What is pleasure but a pipe?

There is a well dedicated thread for E-Pipe Mods pipe and one for the Jazz Pipes but I am wanting to talk about all makers, both custom and production models. While it is a given most pipes will be unique due to the grain in wood or patterns in other materials like acrylics there are companies that follow pretty much set patterns and then you have makers who do each pipe as a custom piece. Right now I have 6 pipes with one on the way. Four of my pipes are semi production pieces and two are unique customs.

Another pipe subject not talked about much is how to convert stems for use as a 510 drip tip. E-Pipe mods uses a universal adapter for their stems, Jazz are more fitted with o-rings like a normal drip tip. There are several ways to convert stems, I have tried a couple methods and the ones I have converted from regular pipe to drip work well. Also I will talk about how I add a bend to straight stems.

Of course there are also the juice delivery devices, cartos, tanks, RBAs, etc. I like both RBAs such as the Spheroid as well as carto tanks. The E-Pipes use an eGo connector, other pipes use a 510. Some pipes are auto but most are manual switches.

Last but far from least is pipe porn...pics of our favorite pipes.

Here are the 6 I have now...

And here is one that is currently being made for me...

This stem is set up to work with a Spheroid but it works well with all of the slim tanks. It was originally a straight tobacco stem. I bored out the tenon end, then used a smaller bit to open up the actual hole through the stem so a Siam drip tip stem would fit. These stems are about 7/32 and are made to use changable drip tips. They work great for modding pipe stems.

I was hoping for some discussion as well as ideas for stems and lesser known pipe vendors in this thread.

That's one thing I've not come across much on ECF.. pipe talk. Most of it involves either EPM or Jazz. That could change though.. ;)

Those are the two biggies here in the US but if you compare pricing some of the pipes from across the pond are really reasonable. For example the Shylock Calabash in my pics was under $125.00 shipped. May take a few days longer to get here but it also comes with two stems.

The Sun Pipes also look nice, I haven't done business with them but I have talked with folks who have and they are happy with them.

In addition you aslo have small custom makers like Cockney Rebel and Mycroft who are converting tobacco pipes. I have been getting stems from Turkey and changing them into drip tips for myself. It is such a wide open segment of the e-cig community I hope folks will discuss these smaller makers as well as sharing techniques for things like stem conversions.

I think the pipe community here is small, and as such very limited. Also, the smaller manufacturers/modders are only on the U.K Forums and as such don't get much exposure here. I've seen Sun pipes mentioned on here in the past but not sure if their pricing was out of synch or if it was the time that EPM ramped up production, but I can't recollect any recent conversations about them.

I've also outsourced some of my stuff .. got stems in from Italy (dirt cheap) when EPM was out of stock with no restock date in sight. But other than that, I've not really tweaked or modded anything else. I'd like to someday when I have time on my hands. Having a 4 year old and ECF to watch over pretty much fills up any free time that I have. :)

I am hoping some of the US modders will start looking at the pipes with an eye on converting them. There are tons of pipes out there made of wood other than briar that I am not sure I would have enjoyed as a tobacco pipe (pear wood?) but they are beautifully carved and would be awesome as e-pipes and the base price on them is very reasonable. Example... Turkish Hand Carved New Block MEERSCHAUM Pipe by OttomanArtShop

I would love to see a VV or VW chip added to a pipe as well. I know I will be pushing hard at Vape Bash to get modders thinking pipes.

Did you get the stems from Sun Pipe?

This is the type of info I would love to see get posted here.

No, it was not Sun Pipes. It was a small Italian pipe manufacturer that I came across on the Interwebz. I had googled pipe stems and found them. :)

I have a couple fancy churchwardens coming from Turkey, seems to be the place to get the nice amber swirled stems. One thing I really like about the stem and tank combos from Jazz is the way the stem locks over the top of the tank making the stem more stable and have less wiggling. That is what I am trying to accomplish in my stem mods as well. The issue can be trying to find stems fat enough. My Turkish connection is having his stem maker do some extra fat tenon stems for me.

This stem does a good job lock done over the top 1/8 inch of the tank it is on.

Agreed, the fatter stems are definitely more stable. The slimmer ones are sleek, but can be jiggly. I love what you had done with that little siam mods connector. Neat idea there..

As for colours, I prefer the Tortoise shell or Dark Rose myself with the occasional black or smoke thrown in. Haven't really gone into the elementals from EPM to start using some of the fancy coloured stems that I have.

Nice to see. I've been obsessed with getting a pipe recently but can't seem to pull the trigger once you include all the things that I think should come put the pipe(i.e. the battery cover on the jazz pipes). There was a jazz carto pipe in the classifieds recently that I should have bought but my bday was a few days away and I'd been convinced someone would get me one. Well bday passed 4 days ago and no pipe, again should have just done it.

The Jazz is a complete set up with accessories that can be added, the E-Pipe mods are sold as bowls only so you need to add a stem if desired. Many people use a tank and long trip tip.

Part of the process is deciding if you want traditional (such as the Jazz) or something a bit different. Some like a tank and tip like this one from Captivape http://captivape.com/index.php?products&a=view_product&product_id=6. Then you have the choices of maker...I have some listed on the first page of this thread and will add more as I find them. Online reviews are limited but growing, both Busardo and GrimmGreen have done some.

Take your time and pick the pipe that speaks to you.
