I have a SB and a BB with Altsmoke's adapters. I have some adapters from goodprophets too and they are identical.
I haven't had a problem with a hard draw. You might try lining up one of the carto's slots with one of the adapter's air holes. To do that, you might have to loosen the carto a bit, but not more than 1/4 turn. If that doesn't work, try using a pin to open up the adapter's air holes.
