Ah - you've been here! It's awesome huh. This would definitely be the place for marine electronics - we are water mad here. The recession has caused problems for local companies - should be good to go by 2016 tho.
One thing about living here is that we don't have the same big selection of things. Like vaping for instance - just a few vendors and some of those not very good, or the good ones don't have a wide selection of things for sale. So we order from overseas and it takes 10-14 days to arrive. We really do have to have backups and plan ahead. Also vendors can't sell nic juice within NZ - but we can import for personal use so that's cool.
It can be like that a bit with other things sometimes - but internet ordering is marvellous, and even local online retails can be very good too.
Hiya - not sure what advice to give. Except if you bring your electrical stuff buy adapters. There are some great spots here - but we do sometimes get 4 seasons in one day.

My grandfather was in the Coast Guard in WWII. My Uncle was also in for 30 plus years....needless to say, they were a little peeved at my choice of the Marines LOL. -
