OK, thanks. What I was thinking with the single coil was something like this, going between the posts -
Which wouldn't be possible with most dual-coil RTAs these days, which are either four post (Foggers, Billow, Orchids, Goblin, etc) or else have no usable gap between the posts (Aqua v2). It'd have to be rather skinny, but I figured maybe a 2mm coil might work with some care? And if it could be made to work with the posts, there'd be no further problems with the chimney.
What was the problem with the single coil in the Fogger? Massive leaking?
Yet another reason I love the Aqua v2 - single coil is easily achieved as the air holes are threaded and can be closed off for single coil mode. Not that I've done many single
coils on it, I dislike giving up half the deck. But it's possible. It really is an amazing design, which is both great, and a bit sad - in the sense that it seems to stand fairly alone as being great, with so many other companies still just pumping out what are mostly just the same old tired designs with no more than small tweaks and nothing really new. Another reason I was excited about the Goliath, as it did seem to make some advances. Albeit still evolution not revolution, and with seemingly quite a big drawback as a result.
If there was any indication that the v2 might be coming I might be given pause, but it seems that their first step is to ramp the "Limited Edition" Goliath into full production, so I'm thinking a v2 is months away at least. Unless you've heard something different? They were quite quick to update the Goblin with the 1.1 and 1.2 versions, so it's certainly possible they'll make further tweaks fairly soon.
To be honest it seems pretty likely I'm just going to get it anyway
But I may well wait a little to see if I can at least get it for less than $50! And if I can resist the spending urge long enough, that probably means I'll get the FT clone for $17 (and cross my fingers that it's a pretty good one.)
