The craftmanship of repairing instruments and making new ones is probably one of your biggest joys. Keep at it!! That stock of exotic woods has to be one of your biggest prides. Our partnerships here are also a great joy. I know the emotional struggles I have had with my "little" writing project have eased through knowing all of you. Particularly among those who know what it is about.Oh, I'm not ready to throw the towel in just yet, I'm going to hobble along with my instrument business, because I have to
stay busy doing something .. retirement does not appeal to me, it never has ..
I learned more about forgiveness, understanding and
the shared ups and downs of life .. if in fact, Fate plays a hand, she played a Royal Flush when we somehow joined hands ..
Yeah, most of us are closer to the end than the beginning, but wow Willie.......what a life you've lived! And I'm so happy you're living part of it with us! The rig you sold, that wast the one you posted the pic of when we were talking about a porch teleporter? Glad you were able to sell it for mostly what you owed. Loved the photo album, but wish there were more pics of you! I truly understand not wanting to slow down, but there is a joy, peace and beauty in most things, including that. Sometimes you just have to look a bit harder to find it. I hope there is a part 3 to this story, as you didn't cover what I've wondered about most. But won't go into that here. (look for pm inna minute). lol You are one of the ones here who mean so much to me! (as you do to many of us). I know you feel like you haven't had the family ties that many have, I truly understand that as well. Most of my "family" have been folks who weren't related to me. I hope you feel blessed in knowing that you do seem to have many many wonderful memories to look back on. and at least you can remember them! View attachment 453827 not to mention more to be made! We love you, and feel so blessed that many of our memories and current good times include you!!
Give it time. By the time I hit 60, they will have replaced it with some version that contains the psychotic ingredient of Chantix.Pretty much not. They don't really know why the shingles come back but they do. If taking the shingles shot prevents it and the insurance will pay for it I say, go for it! As long as it doesn't have terrible side effects I can handle it. Doesn't seem too because they don't spend more time in the commercial talking about the warnings and side effect than they do the actual drug.
From what I was told, the same virus that causes shingles resides with or is the one that causes chicken pox. The reason people didn't used to have to worry about it was because we lived an average of 60 years, and most cases happen after 70, or something like that.Sounds good to me!! Would also explain why everyone seemed to always say if you'd had a good case of pox, you didn't have to be so concerned about shingles. Wondered if that was wrong, or if the commercials are twisting stuff to sell meds. Not like BP ever does that!!
Wow.......gorgeous shower Matt!!! I just hate you're doing all this to leave it. But so glad to know you've spent your last winter up north! At least in Fla, you can't slip on humidity and bust your ..... You may need oxygen til you get used to it though hehehe

Doree and I thought about the dual shower head deal too but, decided to pass for pretty much the same reason. Didn't think we'd use it much.Looking good Matt .... and I'm impressed w/ the prices you paid for labor & materials. Can you send your contractor up north to do our kitchen. I'm expecting the estimate end of this week / beginning of next.
I don't know what you call it, but that vertical bar/shower head ... put one like it in our walk-in shower when the bathroom was re-done too. I really like it. The walk-in area is smaller then yours and we have a shower head on opposing walls. Thought that would be 'cool' but honestly never use two of 'em.
2nd this also!! We all want autographed copies!! Far as we know, Tx didn't get to finish his, so get crackin Mister!! lolMaybe now you'll have time to right that book. .
Okay, I've changed my warning to you about the fleas. I only wish half as many now. The reason is because now more than ever, I want to hear more about you and what you've done. I find you fascinating to say the least. What had me really scared was that there was something seriously wrong with you or your liver. And I worried because I cared and not because I am nosy. (this time)
I know it has got to be sad letting go of so much stuff that means so much to you. But my gosh, you still have the memories. When I look back on my years, I feel like crying also but for different reasons. What a truly lucky man you are. And how lucky I am for feeling like one of your friends. Could I get an autographed picture of you? Just sayin'. . . Maybe now you'll have time to right that book. . .I do love you.
As I packed up the equipment and removed the old photos, I took a few pictures .. like I said when I made the Tribute to TX, I believe everyone should have some sort of record, so I decided I was going to make one .. I hope no one feels I'm being pretentious .. I'm really not tooting my own horn, I just felt like I'd like to share a little with you on a few of the folks I've had the pleasure to have worked for over the years .. and as I put this together, I realized it was almost a tribute to the deceased .. I hope you like it ..
We already know you have a talent at writing. I say "DO it!!"2nd this also!! We all want autographed copies!! Far as we know, Tx didn't get to finish his, so get crackin Mister!! lol
And you do have those characteristics, too.. it's work, consistency, don't give up, that determines our path ....
Just talking off the top of my head here-- I am not a medical professional. However, it seems reasonable that shingles later in life is because the antibodies from the original pox has decreased over time. And since kids are now getting immunized, the opportunities for later exposures which would increase immunity are not happening. Seems to me that if you had severe pox as a child, you would be at a lowered risk later. IMHO, only.
Well, if N=1 is any indication, that quashes that part of my theories.I had severe chicken pox as a kid and relatively bad shingles also.
Ditto!!And do know - my bucket list contains an entry - share a drink with Uncle Willie. I hope I get to check it off the list.
you said that? Or Janet said that??? hehheeAnyway one day I said these have got to go
Holy crap Willie, did you get out of your local neighborhood much - just saying. And tell the truth now, you're getting older and you shouldn't fib - you photoshopped all those auto-graphed pictures - right!
I guess a lot of us have a hard time letting go of the physical things we've had around us for so long. Sometimes stupid stuff. My parents have been gone a long time now and I'd been saving a large box of their bowling trophies. Bowling was an integral part of their entire lives together - and boy were they good bowlers. Anyway one day I said these have got to go - I saved 1 trophy from each of them. Grouped the rest on our dinning room table and took some photos. Now I've got the memories and a picture and the big box of trophies was actually donated to an charity organization that rehabs the bases for other purposes. Win-win.
Sometimes I think the worst part of getting old is not the creaks and groans of my body but the loss of physical contact w/ family and friends. The emotional contact will never die. My collection of mass cards from funerals is way to big. I never understand or agree with folks who express - you'll get over it in time - when talking about a death. NO - you never get over it, at best you learn to live with it.
