I am beginning a parts order to build my first box, I just had a question before I begin. Using the yihi sx350 j I do not need a mosfet for the switch correct? The only amperage through the fire button is just to control the chip?

It can easily fit into a hammond 1590b but is a bit large even for my big hands. A 1590g or 1550p is more hand friendly but a tighter squeeze. Or, be creative. There are way too many mods in hammond boxes.

Got my buttons, switch and battery carrier in vape mail today, waiting on enclosure, chip, and fdv 510 still. I would think 18 or 20 ga is sufficient for the battery side of the circuit, what is ok for the switch and buttons?
You want 18 gauge for the high current paths. You can use anything for the switches since they don't carry any power. Sections of old ribbon cable are convenient. Thin and flexible makes it easier to rout.

My chip, 510, and battery holder are on the way. I think I'm going to source a 3d printed cradle with buttons locally as shapeways shipping to Canada is ridiculous and I'm too impatient to wire switches and a fire button
I looked at some of the printed boxes, just liked the option of relocating buttons and such
I thought about vamo buttons, but I didn't end up with them because of my experience of them in the vamo... I am prone to butterfingers
