Meet Me in St Louie Louie
As the unofficial start of Summer happens today, and folks are firing up the grill, icing down the cooler and other activities, take a moment and reflect on the lives given so that we can have the luxury that we have. Regardless of what a politician says or does, no matter what your Political leanings may be, many of our youngest and finest gave the ultimate sacrifice. We will never know what some men and women may have been able to accomplish had they lived. We should be thankful every single day. From the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan ..

"The Patriot's Blood is the Seed of Freedom's Tree"

There is not a day that passes that I do not at least have a glimpse fleet through my mind of my Brothers that did not make it back outside a coffin. And I never expect to ever again experience the bonds formed in those days. It has, and always will, have a profound effect on me till the day I pass.

Salute ..

Ya me too. I would use words like forage, porridge, etc close enough for me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah..... so while y'all are telling this Ogden Nash fan 'bout how totally cool y'all are with loose rhyme, I'll remind ya that changing the question neither constitutes an answer nor changes the primary definition of "rhyme".

A thoughtful and appreciative Memorial Day to you, my friends!

Yet Nash himself was known to play with spellings and pronunciations .. so just go full on Nash and make it up as you go ..

I would live all my life in nonchalance and insouciance,
Were it not for making a living, which is rather a nouciance.

That, like, was my point from the get-go. Ogden Nash was a conventional poet in no sense of the word. I've read and enjoyed, several times, 3 books of his. But that doesn't make him someone who adhered to the definition of "rhyme".

Ogden Nash's "most famous" work is probably:
Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.

My favorite, though, is "The Wombat":

The wombat lives across the seas,
Among the far Antipodes.
He may exist on nuts and berries,
Or then again, on missionaries;
His distant habitat precludes
Conclusive knowledge of his moods,
But I would not engage the wombat
In any form of mortal combat.

Both of the above Ogden Nash creations happen to be ones in which he followed exact rhyming conventions. But I also greatly enjoy:
If called by a panther, don't anther

and "The Lama":
The one-L lama, he's a priest
The two-L llama, he's a beast
And I would bet a silk pyjama
There isn't any three-L lllama*

*footnote: The author's attention has been called to a type of conflagration known as a three-alarmer.

Is this the part where the 4 people in the audience start snapping their fingers .. ??

Oh! How's this for a nice melodic loose rhyme with "harshin' my mellow"?:

"Nice Martian fellow".

A Nice Martian Fellow
I caught Harshin' My Mellow
His Body was Yellow
My Brain Turned to Jello
When All He Could Say was "Hello" ..

I don't know how this graphic poem is going to format on here, but I'll give it a go. I tried to snip it with the scissors, but it was longer than a page. The link to it is here: Nurse’s Notes | S.K. Nicholls

I
do
not
know
you
very
well,
but I
feel I
can tell
you, that I
have often
found some
of the most
particularly
delightful
things in
life quite
often do
occur quite
by chance.
For the most
part, all of
these were
written years ago.
When they were,
there was always
a song playing
in the back
of my mind.
I could not
share the song.
Unfortunately,
as much as I wanted to,
I never learned how to read or write music, but I feel it.
I don’t sing very often or very well.
I write
books now.
Though some of my writings,
even in books,
are lyrical
serendipity.
Some are blues.
Some are rock.
Some are psychotic headbeats
louder than my own heart!
These are my “Nurse’s Notes”.

2 points if you guess the picture.
