How to get sub ohm with 28 guage Kanthal

Ok so I have several wrapping rods of various sizes. I would like to try to get sub ohm for my Lemo Drop. I have heard though that the bigger size coils work better. So how many wraps should I use? I tried 5 on a 2.5 mm rod but still wound up with 1.4 ohms. Any help is appreciated.

I use a 3/32 drill bit, pretty close to your 2.5, I just did twisted 28g Kanthal for 9 wraps I believe and got about 1.0 ohm. Seeing as how I wanted about a .5 in parallel it was perfect. logically 5 wraps of twisted 28g around that 2.5 should be around .5~.6

Parallel coil or twisted. I've done triple twisted 28ga before with good results when i ran out of 26ga.

and dual coils are a great way to get yourself into subohm territory. My first dual coils were actually in Protank heads and usually came out to .8 or .9ohms.

They were never easy to get a picture of.
