You can run a Mutation in single coil mode. Great atty and you can pick up an authentic for $30-40. I have a clone and a real onE and I can tell them apart honestly.
I use the Atomic and it pretty nice, set up for single or dual (I use it single).
I also have the authentic, a clone and a BF.

Get a cheap dripper much easier to mess with and clean up between flavors. You can get some for $10 or so.
I use an octopus on an ego 30 ga 1.8 ohm dual coil build. Vapes pretty well, no clouds though. Paid around $9 for it. Not a great dripper chincy screw posts and shallow juice well.

I use an igo-l (hole drilled out to 3/32") with a 1.2 ohm 28ga 2mm contact coil, wicked with mesh. It gives great flavor, and with a regulated device it allows you to go from low to high power easily to determine the sweet spot of your juice. And it's easy to dry burn between flavors. I think fasttech has one for less than $5.
My favorite from fasttech is the A6.

It comes drilled for single coil, but the posts are there if you want to go with two. The air most likely needs to be drilled to taste (unless you like a real tight draw).

The only issue I have with it is finding replacement ceramic wicks and I haven't tried mesh just yet.

Magma. Dome-shaped inner chamber, fantastic flavor, highly adjustable airflow from tootling to whooshing, easy to build on, very cheap (approx $15-$20, the Tobeco version).

ETA: although it has airflow settings which will WELL accommodate single-coil (that's what I use), it will also accommodate duals, if you later decide you wanna try that out.

I use a Zenith V2 clone for flavor testing, the chamber is very small and the large slots in the posts make rebuilds very very easy. Works great in single and dual coil, very adjustable airflow.

Could probably pick up an Igo l stateside for 7-9 bucks.

Any reason why you wouldn't just use something like a Cisco Spec atty and a spinner? 'Til this day, that type of set-up is the only thing that has remained a constant in my arsenal. For $20 you'd be set and wouldn't even need to rebuild anything and one CS atty has lasted me over year. Great purchase for ~$7-8 (just the atty).

Yeah, assuming no spinning posts or anything wonky with the build quality, it's hard to beat that item and price.
I read a few of the reviews and the only complaint was the airflow hole needed to be drilled out. Personally I'd use it only for a juice tester and wouldn't need to drill it out.
I've got an Igo-S; I really can't recommend it, it's just so tiny. If someone really wants to taste it, a Magma, or an Achilles.

Or if those are what you like, a Cigreen Holmes. Plus its original and cheap. Do they even still sell OG Magmas or the Achilles? I sold my Achilles last year and there weren't even that many back then.
But even still, this is more about simple tasting and not full-on-out vaping. Those RDAs we are talking about, save for the IGO-S/Mini RDA, are more for vaping than tasting. My opinion of course.
