I meant that as a serious question, but glad you're not taking it seriously, indicating that's not what you meant. Are there drugs prescribed for some of the Asperger's symptoms?

Sorry, for the miscommunication. A couple posts earlier, there were a few things about asperger's being like a software problem with the brain. That's what my "patch" comment was directed toward.

To the best of my knowledge, currently there are no drugs to treat Asperger's specifically, although many people with Asperger's also have anxiety, depression and/or ADD, and some are helped by taking drugs for those conditions.

I was just going to say that I scored 40 on that test, 39 the second time that I took it. And that was on the old and improved me where I've adapted to a lot of the difficulties. But I just came out of three months of torture -AKA a stay in a nursing hoe while getting rehab for a broken ankle. (My existing physical problems meant the I couldn't do total non-weight-bearing on my own.) I wasn't able to adapt there.

There I was confronted with large numbers of people to deal with, converse with, remember the names of. Also constant noise of varying types and having to live by their schedule, not my own. Not a pleasant time. My point being that even having adapted fairly well for years, having my life flopped into a whole new situation where I couldn't avoid stresses showed me just how flimsy some of that adaptation is.

I am so grateful that my grandson at least has had the chance to know why he is different, and to have a lot of good training on how to deal with a lot of things. There is no cure, but there is help dealing with it, especially now that it is being diagnosed.

Remember the names of.... A real problem with me.

Just the names, or the people themselves? Many people with Asperger's have at least some level of prosopagnosia, or face blindness. Here's an interesting article on it from "Psychology Today," written by someone with autism.

The people themselves, I'm afraid. And with two nursing assistants and a nurse each shift, and at least two physical and occupational therapists each day, assorted specialists (dietitian, driver, cleaner, etc.) plus an ever changing cast of other inmates patients, including five different roommates, it actually did seem like physical pain at times trying to remember people. And I never did find any place where I could be alone for a while.

Hey dudes/dudettes, you all want to hear a really groovy thing that just happened to me? Good, because I am going to tell you anyway. :)

Today in the mail just arrived a brand new IPV4s Mod along with a brand new Triton tank and I never even ordered the stuff. Nope, totally free of charge...... I found out that my brother @Cognator who just joined this forum sent them to me as a gift!! He ordered them from Amazon brand new and had them shipped to me. Now what kind of a cool brother is that I tell you!? I haven't even taken the stuff out of the packages yet but I will after bit and when I fire the thing up I will put some photos on here. I am also going to make a post in the General conversations area about what my brother has done for me. I am way excited to blast away on the thing.
I would just fire up that dude up and stop messing around (joke). I have an Amazon review to write.....don't you know?? > :w00t:

That sounds horrid @amoret. Kudos to you for making it through that. I get the heeby geebies even in hotel rooms, and I would never be able to sleep with roommates. Is it safe to assume that you're glad to be home?
I would have a hard time surviving an ordeal like amoret went through. I'd probably get no sleep unless heavily drugged, which I would also hate. The lack of control would be a nightmare, for me.

Hey brother..........Yes, I fired the thing up...I also filled the new Triton tank and tried it........ All I can say is WOW...I haven't taken it up past 30 watts (yet) because it works so well that it blows me up like a balloon. I messed with every setting on it and it works great. So brother, write a good review.... Also, it's taken me a bit to get used to the tank but it is awesome as well and is deserving of a good review.

@AXIOM_1, you haven't even vaped with it yet?
I haven't gotten pics of it taken yet but I will when I get a few minutes here.

I took the test. My score was 27, but the autistic features that are most at the core of Asperger's are very mild in me and overcome with smarts, as others have already discussed in this thread. If I fit at all in the autism spectrum, it's not Asperger's, but more of the non-specific, or how ever it is they word that classification. However, I really fit perfectly into definitions of Tourette's, OCD and ADD (with a little bit of the "H" in ADHD), and I strongly identify with those.

There's a lot of overlap between ADD and autism, and especially between OCD and autism. Tourette Syndrome is often accompanied by ADD and even more often OCD.
Most of us with these conditions are pretty smart with great memories. Not to tune my own horn. I'll have to take that test to see what I get
