It is a fine and community service...

And that's a joke - one could say he did the community a 'service' by not smoking but vaping. I'd refuse 'community service' anyway - didn't do anything 'against' the community.

It's as if they don't get enough socialism in school, they add more through the justice system... and create more animosity towards it because it's forced not voluntary.

I got a reckless driving ticket while in high school and did 20 hours of community service at a public library. Didn't drive recklessly after that...

Michigan law (because I Iive there)

722.642 Prohibited conduct by minor; violation as misdemeanor; penalty; participation in health promotion and risk reduction assessment program; costs; community service; exceptions; other violations.

http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(ev...eg.aspx?page=GetObject&objectname=mcl-722-642

I'm sure this does not apply to ecigs in michigan because it's still legal for kids to buy but if that changed the same rules would apply. If you read the statute it's a misdemeanor that gets harsher with further violations. How would you cope if a court ordered you to quit smoking and you didn't have ecigs to fall back on? That's what's starting to happen to kids. Is it in the best interests of the kids to do this?

Utah
76-10-105.Buying or possessing a cigar, cigarette, electronic cigarette, or tobacco by a minor -- Penalty -- Compliance officer authority -- Juvenile court jurisdiction.
http://le.utah.gov/~code/TITLE76/htm/76_10_010500.htm

The law is probably quite similar in all the states and how they might differ is which ones have added ecigs. I do not find reports of kids being cited for smoking but now I'm finding reports of citations for vaping.

I don't live in that society, nor can comprehend that mentality...

Where are you from? Man, when I was in High School I got treated like a hero for a month after a misunderstanding involving the cops. A couple cops I knew bet me that their new Corvette, part of the DARE program, would spank my old Chevelle. So we raced, I spanked them, they paid up and that was that. Or so I thought. Upon my return to school on Monday, I had a standing ovation in the parking lot. Someone saw, thought I was running from them and the word spread like wildfire. Only the word that spread was that there were numerous wrecks and a shootout and I must have gotten away because I wasn't in jail. Nothing I could say would change the story. But, I was pulling more tail that month than I would have imagined, 2 or 3 dates a night, 7 days a week... And this was an upper middle class suburban school, not some ghetto 'hood. Kids hate the fact that they are given special kid rules that don't apply to adults, and like the idea of those who ignore the rules and do what they want. It's been like that forever, and pretty much worldwide.

The other half of the story could be he was arrested because he had an attitude with the police, wouldn't show them his mod or what is in it, started screaming vaping is his right and was arrested for disorderly conduct and ultimately just charged with possession of a tobacco product, because he was given a break, but the mother who said her little angel was arrested for an e-cic probably just left that out...
this sounds so likely!

Yes, in the real world.

Those who don't get arrested are cool, and those who get arrested for something that isn't harming another animal or person are very cool. If all it took was idea of you could get arrested, and this would be uncool / undesirable, I believe all or most laws would not be broken. I've never been arrested, or even warned about speeding, but know enough that almost everyone does it, and those who have been arrested are likely still speeding. Some argue that by not speeding in certain situations, you are putting others at risk, ya know flow of traffic (aka go with the flow) type thing.
I hung around what i thought was the cool crowd, yep most were law breakers. Of course i know we were all stupid kids but back then,we were "rules were meant to be broken" kind and for some stupid reason that was cool,lol...stupid kids we were

I hung out with the Allison Reynolds, Andrew Clark and sometimes Clair Standish and Brian Johnson types; not the John Benders...

I hung out with everyone. That event made me popular with all the little groups. Preps, freaks, rednecks, jocks, you name it. The introduction to law enforcement students didn't like me too much, but that was because I taped the teacher bragging about crimes he committed as an officer and got him fired and jailed the year before...

I'm starting to think it might be a good idea to buy as much gear as you can afford before it gets regulated or taxed out of existence. Be a real good idea to learn to diy your own liquids too.

Was my plan 2 years ago ... the only thing I will ever need to buy are AW 18350 batteries.

I just got back into vaping, I was off and on and stopped in 2013. Mostly because I just didn't think the technology was quite there yet.

This time around I'm loving it. I really want to and have started getting into rebuildables. I'm going to start buying up rdas. I should probably get into and get a stock of simple mech mods too. I'm already starting on the diy liquid road to :)
