Lol, nah, that was more for the congestus up there.

I think I get what you're doing, trying to get people out of the mindset that lower/bigger=better. That's kind of what modwomping is about.

That's really kinda why I hang in here; that "Bowed-in" coil is a good example -- the actual specs of the coil are the same I always use -- 7 wraps, 29ga, 3/32 -- but something about that "bow" makes it really flavorful.

Mine don't come out as perfect as Boden's; even though I start with a contact coil, the bottom part won't stay completely in contact when I start spacing the top of it -- but it still works really well.

So far, I'm loving it. Haven't messed with the Bluetooth app just juiced it up and started chasing the clouds. Going to order a RBA...probably dual coil.

I been thinking of trying out the Orchid V7 i have on it. I only used it so far on a Telsa Invader II and it got real hot and leaked. Maybe it wont leak on a regulated mod thats not shooting 200 watts to it.

Hello everyone, thought I'd stop by and introduce myself to this thread. Not entirely sure yet where I fit in the whole Tootle Puffer vs Mod Whomper scheme, but I'm without a doubt a flavor chaser rather than a Cloud Chaser, so hi everyone. I'll be lurking in your thread from time to time.

Welcome! There's no "versus" just, if you have a question about something higher than 15 watts, you'll probably get a better answer here :)

Or even about coil building... There are plenty of coil builders in the tootling thread too, but sometimes the blister-packers get annoyed about coil-building discussions. :D

Yeah, there is an idea that RBA's are for cloud chasers, or only for sub-ohm and that's just not true. My first "rebuild" was the head of a T3, and just changing the wire from the stock 34g to my 32g, same resistance, made a huge difference.

After a couple of weeks using my velocity at about .5 with dual twisted 28g coils, I'm back to a single 0.7ohm coil in a derringer. I like dense vapor more than huge volumes of vapor.

The only time I've EVER built a sub-ohm coil was for that Evic-VT I had so briefly. Otherwise, the lowest I've ever built was 1.3Ω. Didn't care for it, because with the 29ga I prefer, there weren't enough wraps for good vapor. The 7 wrap coils I prefer end up in the 1.65-1.7 ohm neighborhood, and make excellent vapor -- the thin "clouds" that suit me, with plenty of flavor.

Welcome Kad, as long as your vaping, having fun and either staying off the stinkies or trying to get off them, its all good. Many Mod wompers will also tootle puff some, and the tootle puffers will swing by the Womper room at times just to hang out and enjoy some good ol coil porn.

My preferential coil build is usually anywhere from .2 to .6 and I have enjoyed a few 1.2 ohm builds before. I like to keep them simple, plain jane 24 or 26 ga kanthal tight wrapped coils but I dont mind a clapton or a twisted coil build in an RDA.

Its cool as can be seeing all the cool coil builds yall come up with, especially Bodens who is in my opinion a master coil builder and at times I will try a few of them but for the most part, I just keep it simple :) Like you Lessifer, i learned on those tiny coil heads and even built a few 28 ga coils in a T3 style head. It vaped actually well but battery life was cut short from it. The hardest coil I ever built was the dual coils in the Protank III's, an to be honest, I never seen any real difference in the vape between a dual coil or a single coil in them.

And sometimes even a very small change -- making my usual coils "bowed" -- can make a lot of difference! I just thought it was cool looking when Boden first posted it, and he mentioned that it might cut down on coil gunking, and I have such a problem with that, I thought it was worth trying. It may give me an extra day before I need to dry-burn, and I'm lazy, so that's a good thing, but the real improvement I found was in the flavor! I had been using a bowed coil like that for several days, and when I switched to my other Achilles, with a flat coil, I really noticed a difference in the flavor.

You are a "Hybrid" like me lol I Tootle Puff during the day, and add some sub ohming at night(Flavor Chaser). I saw you posted in the Tootle Puffer thread but I didn't get a chance to welcome ya so... Welcome to the Tootle Puffers & ModWhompers Threads!!
BTW we get to look forward for tomorrow to try and win some Cloupor Mini Plus's!! :) Hopefully if I don't win, I really want to see more ECF'ers I actually know win!!

I really wish they didn't move that thread, I was looking forward to some very Beneficial coil building knowledge... Instead it got overran with trolls.. :( Even though I really only build simple coils for RTA's (Mainly Kayfuns) and am really trying to buy the SteamCrave Aromamizer, and a couple others, I/We could have all learned a good bit I think!!

I'm still building the test bench with a constant flow air pump and high resolution scale to measure eliquid before and after. It should be interesting.

I'll just post the results here.

I had the same experience.. I started out on with an Evod kit, and learned how to rebuild those heads over in the Kanger Microcoil thread floating about. 32ga like 5/6 wraps to hit 1.5-1.8 ohms, which is what the stock ones I have are, and there was world of difference in performance. After rebuilding my first couple I never used a stock one again, and each time I pulled a new one out the first thing I did was rip out the stock coils and replace em. Going from the silica wicks to cotton was a nice big boost in flavor too.. I remember getting my first Protank 2 about a month later along with an MVP2 and thinking 'it doesnt get any better than this'.. Was all downhill from there.. Then came the first KFL. Then the second.. Then the 40w Vamo, etc..

Its funny Im right where youre at now too. 0.7 ohm single micros in both my Derringers on my Stingray X's. While I get a pretty decent volume of vapor, its nowhere near cloud chasing but it is THICK. I have to watch it if Im driving because at times itll fill up the car and I cant even see the lines in the road for a second haha.
