I'm not as certain that the real next big thing is a touch screen... although I do see many liking something like that..
I'm thinking the next big thing will be newer battery technology. They are already working on and there are some forms of a graphene battery. Currently I've seen a lipo married with a graphene anode to give them higher amp outputs. At some point, these new technologies will allow smaller batteries with much faster charge rates. At some point much later, they may actually switch over to using supercapacitors which can charge in seconds if they can also increase the amount of capacity ( mah ) they can hold.
Hybrid graphene/lithium batteries are coming out now... hopefully smaller form factor batteries will be not too far behind.
