RIP............Jose Fernandez killed in Miami boat crash...
He will be missed, 24 years old. 4 years in the majors. He was an awesome pitcher. Very good one of those who only comes along once in awhile. His record fro home games was something like 28 - 2. And often would strike out 10+ batters a game, thats not easy to do. He was
definitely gonna be one of the great ones.

Hw had an awesome fun out going personality always a player & fan favorite. Loved by one and all. Most pitchers on thier game day go into a somewhat solitude mode, don't talk to 'em don't look at 'em leave them alone to het in the "zone", not Jose. He would be dos normal self cutting u with the other players, both teams, assessable to fans and press a like, always with a smile & good attitude, he was a rare gem & an asset to the team both for ability of play & spirit of the game. He loved the game, respected the game played hard and tried to keep it fun.

A cuban refugee he made it out on his 4th attempt. Through his attempts for freedom he was shot at, jailed & beaten. On his last, the 4th and at last successful attempt, in the dark of night on the crowed boat, he heard a commotion & screaming some one had fallen over board. Jose knowing only someone searching for a free life might die in the water in their attempt, He jumped into the water to save the person only upon getting them & himself safely back on the boat did he realize it was his own mother.

The settled in the Tampa area where he attended High School and set his sights on a career in the MLB, and made it. He also became a naturalized citizen, and was active in youth programs giving back to the community.

While still a child at heart playing a game he loved, in a country He loved he had much respect for the game, the country, all people he encountered
He was a man among men, he will be mossed

Rest In Peace José D. Fernández
