and where's that bear? i need him to straighten out wegmans! :D

Future Store Locations - Wegmans

it's gonna take them a decade to open up in the triad at the rate they are going .................

First and foremost: Happy "Fat Tuesday" to all ye Snails.

..........

Yeah, been scarce. Doing pondering and planning (next post).

..........

@tiburonfirst ... I did not know Wegmans had THAT many "future sites" in
the works. Guess it won't be 2018 because they have some "opening in
2018"s listed, but not NC.

Since last Wednesday's cardio visit (with the discovered questionable
pacemaker wire), I have heard:

... " :censored: co-pays "
... " I feel fine, so why have surgery "
... " I'm 87 and don't want any more surgeries "
... " I'm thinking about canceling the appointment "

So, this could be an interesting appointment tomorrow. Nobody can
FORCE him into anything. (I think it's illegal.) I've never had to pull
out the "shaming" or "because we all love you" cards with him, so it's
new territory.

He is also VERY accustomed to seeing just ONE person for everything.
His previous cardiologist was a one-person (except for assistant)
operation. So he is hating the cardiologist, pacemaker technician,
and now surgeon bevvy of people. EACH with a hand out for co-pays.
His old doc... ONE visit... ONE co-pay. And any follow-up visits (eg:
post-op checkup) were freebies. This is ticking him off to no end.

His old doc was "old school". We would most likely NOT find anybody
like him again. And if we did, the doc would be just weeks away from
retiring. Just about all the cardiologists in the phone book here are in
"practices" where there is a specialist for every piece of the puzzle.

Yea, that's a delicate situation in which to be, Bear!

Your dad reminds me of my mom MANY years ago......she was adamant about certain procedures, and refused them, but the way she refused them made my heart sing......she literally yelled at them and told them if they touched her, she would kick them in their faces........yep, she was a fiery, feisty 'ahead of her years' woman.

The one doc for everything is, I'm afraid, going into extinction! Too much money to be had! :nah:

Neglected to mention... "Sheba" came back over a week ago and has not left.

She and Oreo are right there at the back door every morning for wet food.
They are also as affectionate toward each other as ever. I really SHOULD
take a short video of their love for each other. I still find it amazing to
witness. :)

Yesterday, I went to neaten up the heavy blanket that's up among the nested
chairs in the gazebo, and there they both were, sleeping together. I was
scant inches away, and they did not run. I just pulled the cover back down and
let them be.

They don't pay the GP's enough to say in business. They have to become "specialists" in order to make any money. It's all about the insurance system. Grrrr.

If they'd just pay the doctors, a lot of this crap would be fixed, including over-testing and also "incentives" for name brand drugs or whatever (there's something there somehow, not sure what/how)....

The doctors have to pay the rent, and the receptionists, and office business costs, blah blah blah. It varies of course, some just "work out of" hospital offices, but even then, there's other things...like tests ordered...that pay the bills. They have to basically generate revenue somewhere.

The whole thing is FUBAR.

Allow me to post early dessert (may not make it back here later).

"Paczki"

Pączki - Wikipedia

It's Paczki time! Get your fill of the Fat Tuesday treat

Not "just" donuts.

In honour of Fat Tuesday.

And other things, like heritage.
