Just been doing a search on ecigs and came across an article saying ecigs stiffen the arteries in the same way normal cigarettes do . Any thoughts on this?

It is sometimes Very Hard to Equate exactly what an e-Cigarette May or May Not cause.

Because what Exactly is an e-Cigarette?

And does a person Chain vaping a Quad Clapton Coil rda doing Direct Lung Hits at 300 Watts experience the same thing as a person who takes Occasional puffs off an eGo with a CE4?

BTW - The Medical term for Stiffened Arteries is "Atherosclerosis".

Im probably a bit off, since well , I am off, but from what I remember about smoking cigarettes / nicotine is that it is a vasoconstrictor. It constricts the vascular/ viens/ arteries , not stiffens. Fat, cholesterols do the actual stiffening as the fat lines your arteries and closes off the diameter of the arteries/ viens/ capillaries. This causes problems with blood pressure etc and if one of those fatty bits comes off and floats out then you have problems / blockages and lots of problems.

Not saying that constriction of blood vessels is not bad, especially combined with the other toxins, drugs , chems that are in cigarettes and the combustion of materials that do all sorts of nastiness in your respiratory system as well.

If you are relatively healthy, dont need to obsess, UNLESS of course you have coronary problems already from a lifetime of abusing yourself with wrong foods, too much of "life"

Vaping as well as many other things in life that we enjoy has its hazards all we can do for ourselves it keep it moderate, Make decisions that are better than others. Its risk factors. SOme relationships are more dangerous to us than smoking, drinking , etc.

We/ I am not a doctor and even if I was there is no way I could say its safe, safer etc. because there are so many aspects of vaping/ smoking/ Im sure that if you ask different types of specialists they will all give you a generic " google " opinion or if you are lucky they have actually done studies or read real science not "internetscience"

I read about that and without reading the original reserach it is impossible to determine how accurate is this assertion. For instance, does it harden the arteries as much as a regular cigarette? Is it really hardening or just vaso constriction, they are different things. Etc, there is a lot of so called research that is not exaclty well conducted. I am thinking this is just a scare done by some anti vaping group.

constricted and stiffened arteries are both a byproduct of nicotine consumption. at least according to literature from the medical community; which, until recently has been usually associated with smoking. so i can see that even though we're vaping and not smoking that might still be a concern. as vapors we're not subject to all the hundreds of other nasty ingredients in cigarettes but nicotine is still doing whatever it does if it's in our juice.

unlike smoking we can at least control how much nic we consume in our juice. this is something i've been wrestling with because my blood pressure has actually gone up since i've been vaping (4 years). when i had a physical two years ago my doctor wanted to put me on medication for high blood pressure. instead i told him to let me try stepping down my nic levels. which i did. i went down from 12mg to 6mg, and stayed at 6mg for two years until a few weeks ago when i went down even further to 3mg. so i recently had another physical and my blood pressure is higher than it was last time. maybe it's genetic, or it could be because i'm a chain vapor. the only way to really tell is if i try to ween myself down to 0 nic for awhile and see if that has any affect on my bp. it's either that or go on bp medication. i'm not thrilled with either solution but i guess i gotta pick one.

on the plus side, if my bp is still high after i've been doing 0nic for awhile then i guess i can go back to the nic, tell the doc to pass me the bp pills, and just chalk it up to genetics.

There is also diet, Smoking alone does not cause high blood pressure, this is why Asians smoke like fiends but have a pretty good blood pressure. If you enjoy your steaks, ice cream, etc, then you are at a higher risk of high blood pressure. Good luck and I hope you have good news

As far as what does what to you. If nicotine does something to your system - whether you are smoking or vaping it is still doing it. What we are not doing is inhaling burning materials anymore. That is the main advantage.

As far as disadvantages go - there are so many variables (volume, PG, VG, flavorings, temp, wick materials, etc.) it is a big unknown. Myself I tootle puff and use minimal additives - hopefully minimizing any disadvantages that may arise. Did I set out with this in mind initially - No - I just wanted off the burning stinkies... I adapted as time went along.

well i think i probably eat healthier than the average guy. my partner makes sure of it. we've got this Nutri-Bullet contraption that he puts every vegetable known to man into and makes me drink it. some of his concoctions are quite tasty. Though i do enjoy the occasional steak or burger when the opportunity arises. mmmm juicy juicy steak. :)
