Okay. Thanks cliffy. I read over your steps and that's the exact way I've setup my device before.
It is finally more stable now.
Turned out it was to only tighten the pin with my finger :?:
I put my nail in the 510 pin and that was enough of a tighten to secure the reading.
It's not exact so I don't know what has changed. Oh well.

I spoke with Perseas and he told me not to over tighten the pin but I had assumed that a flat head was needed but no real force. That is the way it worked before but now just with my finger...

Thanks very much anyhow :thumb:

I am glad cliffy's instructions worked for you! I couldn't have said it better myself!
Just a notice for the pin. If you tighten too much the pin, it won't be able to make contact with the 510 connection of the mod. And after a few times of tightening the pin, the threads will get stripped or become loose, because it is brass against 316 SS.

Perseas,

Can we have a list of the Heron o-ring sizes (both v1 and v2) as well as indicators for their locations?

I've been noticing that the two on the outside side of the deck ring (that seals the tank tube) and the one the goes underneath the chamber cap have been failing.

I'd like to start looking for a source for these replacements (and others) now that most GP items are out of stock...

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I shall post the O-rings sizes next week, no worries! Somehow I missed your first post. I was going to answer it and then suddenly, I forgot it!

Perseas.. Will you be making any more GPins for the 'X'?

No, but last time you purchased all the remaining stock of GPins! They will last forever :) I think one of our American resellers may have GPins available, but why you need more?

"FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb outlined a package of measures the agency plans to explore, embracing the idea that e-cigarettes may benefit public health by reducing smoking rates."
FDA aims to cut nicotine in cigarettes, shift toward e-cigarettes

WoooHooo, some sanity! I don't need a study to tell me switching from 20 years of cigs to 3 years of vaping has improved my health, I feel it everyday. The general public does need that study, Vaping can add years to the lives of smokers, plane and simple. It is a net positive to public health.

FDA announcement: a policy change of endorsing harm reduction?

By Dr Farsalinos

Yesterday (July 28), the FDA made an unexpected announcement about their future policy and strategy for tobacco control. The announcement started with a brief presentation about the burden of smoking-related morbidity and mortality in the US and then had two main sections:

Very low nicotine cigarettes. There is an ongoing debate, especially in the US, about the mandatory reduction of nicotine levels in tobacco cigarettes to levels so low that “cigarettes would no longer create or sustain addiction”. I am skeptical about this approach for two reasons. One is that nicotine is not the only determinant of dependence on smoking, and this approach does not deal with the behavioral aspect of smoking dependence. A study evaluating low-nicotine cigarettes for 6 weeks found lower cigarette consumption in the groups assigned to using such cigarettes, but in reality they did not reduce their normal daily consumption. Compensatory smoking was minimal, but the big concern is that if smoker’s continuously use low-nicotine cigarettes and don’t quit, they will have the same health risks as smoking regular cigarettes since they will be exposed to the same combustion chemicals. Such a policy could create other problems too. If nicotine is allowed in smokeless tobacco products, people could just buy smokeless tobacco and use it to smoke. Illicit trade could also sky-rocket, creating a huge black market of nicotine cigarettes. I am open-minded in this aspect (as in any other aspect of science and policy), and I will be waiting some more convincing evidence that this will work.

E-cigarettes (and other harm reduction products). For start, the important decision is the plan to extend the deadline for submitting applications for e-cigarettes to August 8, 2022. The manufacturers will be allowed to market the products while the FDA reviews the product applications. The announcement mentions that “The FDA is committed to encouraging innovations that have the potential to make a notable public health difference and inform policies and efforts that will best protect kids and help smokers quit cigarettes.”. While this is an important step, the FDA needs to realize that the current regulatory framework achieves the exact opposite. The predicate date allows the sales of old products only, which are both less effective as smoking substitutes and more harmful in terms of exposure to potentially toxic chemicals. Additionally, the regulatory requirements are so extensive and burdensome that innovation by small and medium-sized enterprises, which has transformed the e-cigarette market in the last few years, is basically discouraged. Imagine how long it would take to transition from silica to cotton wicks and from plastic top coil to stainless steel and glass bottom coil atomizers if all companies had to pass such extensive regulatory requirements. Another part of the FDA statements mentions the issue of flavors, with specific reference to “obviously kid-attracting flavors“. This is a very hot topic, especially in the US. I have previously discussed the issue of irresponsible marketing, which creates a perfectly avoidable problem since I seriously doubt that the real intention of anyone in the e-cigarette industry is to attract kids to vaping. I think it is crucial that flavors variability is maintained (including sweet flavors), and my survey in 2013 has clearly shown that. We might perform a new survey, specifically addressing the US situation, to explore the experience of US vapers in relation to flavors in e-cigarettes.

In conclusion, this FDA announcement is definitely a positive step, but there should be a follow up. The current regulatory framework is extremely expensive and complex, and will largely create an oligopoly and stifle innovation. Unless changes in the process and requirements of acquiring a license are implemented, the change in the deadline for submissions will just delay the virtual elimination of the e-cigarette market as we know it today. Of course regulation and product standards are needed, but the FDA needs to find the ideal balance in preparing a reasonable, realistic and proportionate regulatory framework.

Some Sanity != Complete Sanity. Reducing the nicotine in cigs is a terrible idea, as is smoking.
All the while when nicotine actually doesn't cause us much harm. Cigarette does.

Next: Reduce/remove caffeine from your coffee.

There is no inconsistency in what I have said, these are the support units which weren't offered for sale back then. I had posted that we shall sell only the majority of the GP PAPS X Ti units, keeping a few of them for support. We haven't reproduced the TiX and we never will.

Gotcha. Guess the "GP PAPS X Ti Edition Version 1.5" in the Store was taken as a second run of what we were calling the "GP PAPS TiX" back in July 2014. Too far back to remember if that is how they were first listed IOW. I knew you had spares that were not sold back then for warranty if needed. I seem to remember you had made 108 of them. Anyway, had I not bought one for the forum folks back then, I could have maybe bought one for them later for under $200 instead of the over $500 spent on this one. However, the way it turned out, either way just a waste of money since I will never use it and because of that experience back then just consider it gorge fodder. But then almost all of my GP gear is gorge fodder as well now (the X's, V3's, 2.1, Piccolo, Herons, Spheroids, SnP's and endless spares/support gear for them). But I will keep the GP Dripper Pro in use for now.

Sorry to see that the forum has all but died except for those few who have remained loyal to it. FWIW, elsewhere I have always continued to support VA's top shelf quality of the gear, the second to none excellence of customer service and the man behind it all. But, I only used some of the gear for a short 3-4 months before moving on to what has become my end game in gear the last 3 years. It was inevitable that I'd leave the GP gear behind because I'm not a tootle puffer (MTL vaper), so the Herons, Spheroids and SnP's just didn't get it done for my DLH's. What little use I've got from the gear since was with the two hybrid Senio drippers from Poland and other 510 drippers mainly on some of the X's. So I am not a GP gear vaper, would have nothing on topic to add here.

That is very sad....

I guess all my gear is considered "gorge fodder" but I hate to think you are really going to just dump them :(
Donate them? My favorite off all the mechs are the 2.1's .....

I stopped running ads/doing PIF's, packaging, shipping or going to the post office years ago.

Yep! Your memory is excellent! 108 units were produced indeed. Thank you very much for the support here and elsewhere, I saw your photos on another forum and the kind words you posted about Vapourart! Finding the vaping gear that suits us better is part of our vaping experience. One man's trash is another's treasure, people search for Piccolo and Heron like crazy :)

A lot of people honoured us here all these years, supporting and conversing with us, I feel very grateful and lucky for this amicable communication. Change and life are synonyms; choosing to enjoy the process, is the real gem. These interactions shape our thoughts and directions, while all the means, trends and fashions come and go. Thank you my friend, good vibes to your direction.

My long term memory yes, but sometimes my short term doesn't fair as well. A few times I have put something away at a place that I will easily be able to find it again... and never have found it again. They are each still here someplace, but only The Shadow knows where.

I've overstayed... time for me to get back to what my life has become.
