1590g Mosfet box, need help, tried everything i know of...

How do you have your positive running from button to main positive connection? Was having trouble seeing in the pics

the red wire thats coming from top of the button to the top right battery connector.

See how there's the little wire coming from the button and merging into the positive to 510 wire? Do you have that?

Your building it in parallel right? What diagram/instructions did you use?

and the mosfet doesnt heat up at all when battery in pushing the button. and like i said it works if i wire it up without the mosfet in it. but when i install the fets it does this...

Did u put the wire I was talking about in spliced right at the base of the 510? Also have you checked to make sure your grounding is secure?

yup, ran it from switch to bottom of 510.

Try putting it farther down on the positive connection wire instead of right on the 510

me to man, just doesnt make since that it will work with no mosfet in but wont once i install the fet dont work

Can you try voltage reading with atty attached multimeter leads on inside box 510 connector center pin + to connector - with and without firing button pressed. Also if you know how to use ohm meter you can start at each solder point with one lead and go to the end of circuit and work your way back to find the problem.

Someone over on reddit openpv ( http://www.reddit.com/r/OpenPV/comments/324ouo/mosfet_troubleshooting_help/ ) had similar problems which were fixed by getting a FET from mouser. He also had tried different ebay fets and none of them were good. It worked fine when he put in a legitimate fet. Never underestimate the ability of folks to make a low quality copy of anything, even a two dollar transistor.

I guess I was lucky. I bought five mosfets on ebay (from China) for about a dollar apiece. I had never built a mod with a mosfet before so I didn't want to invest much money in it. I've only used one so far and, even with my amateur soldering skills, it works perfectly.
