15k resistor 1/4w. Which one?

Any one if fine. Get a cheap one. If you are using a circuit board it might require surface mount but you would know this already.
Any cheap through hole resistor is fine. 13k to 17k should work well. It doesn't need to be high precision or metal film or anything like that. Small is nice because they take up less space in your mod. Some folks just cannibalize their resistors out of old pc power supplies or other electronics but they aren't color blind like I am. Just buy cheap ones.

How about the spst switch? I have built 11 temp control boxes but this is my first unregulated. Funny Im nervous having to figure out all this stuff myself. Usually the board takes care of it. Thanks.

Any of the small slide or push button switches will work. I put mine in the mosfet drain. It wont shut it down but it will keep it from firing.
