In a "study" intended to be a whiny propaganda piece about "internet trolls" ANTZ managed to score a hilarious own goal. They found that vaping truth has completely marginalized their feeble quackery on social media & there's nothing they can do about it. I love seeing these clowns fail their own scream test over and over.

Only one mention tagged as humour did not support e-cigarettes as effective smoking cessation devices, while the majority of humorous tweets expressed a positive or neutral attitude (see Figure A10).
Joy-killing absurdity begs for ridicule.

"Conclusions
Our findings show that Twitter users are overwhelmingly exposed to messages that favor e-cigarettes as smoking cessation aids, even when disregarding commercial activity. This underlines the need for effective public health engagement with social media to provide reliable information about e-cigarettes and smoking cessation online.'
Let me translate this this.
"It looks like we might need government intervention to shut these guys up."
That's the only way I can see for them to continue to chuck horse hockey.

Let's see... Engage in open communication with people world wide who have ready access to information that they can link to with a few keystrokes. I can see why "public health" doesn't see social media as an effective engagement.

"This underlines the need for effective public health engagement with social media"
This is the only phrase worth noting in the whole paragraph. There is only one way
for them to accomplish this. Legal censorship or their own social media outlet which
they can control. With the later they will be preaching to the choir and ineffective.
With the former only force of law will accomplish their goals.

This appears to be one part of a release of more possible propaganda. I found their organizational paper here. Re-Cig - research on E-cigarettes: knowledge synthesis
They do have a 'Risk of bias (quality) assesment' section. But what is scary is the 'dissemination of plans' section. This particularly poor report is going to reach a lot of those in the Canadian smoking cessation profession.

Both Twitter and FB have been proven to be favoring left-of-center political ideology.

Pro-rights and freedoms is Libertarian ideology. Something the aforementioned are not.

Politically speaking, it's not possible.
The Left has always been supportive of harm reduction, so tobacco harm reduction fits the ideology.

What we're up against is corruption. Fighting corruption is very compatible with Left and Right.

Sounds like a sales pitch aimed at the government, for justifying sucking a few more millions out of the public health coffers.

"We (Tobacco Control) thinks it's in the best interest of public health if you (government) give us money to hire/pay someone (our consulants) to form a committee on how to best reshape public opinion (hire/pay our PR guys), on social media."

Like the Tobacco Control reports, funded by MSA payments, that show that states aren't spending enough of the MSA payments on Tobacco Control?
