Hey everyone,

From Melbourne, Australia

Im noob to vaping.

I started off with a x9 armor battery and fake IC30s atomiser (aliexpress). Bought it as i didn't think i would enjoy vaping.

Any suggestions on what should be next e cig?

I don't understand ohms etc.I would like to try blowing bigger clouds, i was looking at purchasing :

ASPIRE CF SUB-OHM BATTERY + ASPIRE ATLANTIS V2.0 SUBOHM tank 1.0 ohm

or

Ego One Mega 1.0ohm also, i don't want to take any risks , will wait to sub ohm when i learn more about ohms law

Hi BTI! Welcome to the forum, and congrats!
The self contained batteries are OK to start, but I quickly outgrew them in favor of replaceable, rechargeable batteries. You have many more options going the standard battery route.
Plus, in the long run, it is much cheaper. 4 of those Aspire CF's will run about $120 plus the tank!

If you are in it for the long haul, you might want to look into 18650 batteries and a proper charger instead. As tech changes, you can still use those batteries. Here is a good setup, very latest technology, and amazing performance. This would be everything you need!

https://www.fasttech.com/products/3032/10009433/3301400
https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10004182/2535100-authentic-lg-18650hg2-3-6v-3000mah-rechargeable
https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10007487/3546501-authentic-smoktech-tfv4-mini-sub-ohm-tank

Very compact, longer life than the Aspire CF, temperature and wattage control!
You will also need a charger for those batteries. Nitecore is a very trusted brand.
They have them at Fasttech also, but not with an Australian plug. Here is one that comes with two premium batteries!
so you know what they look like:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10001638/2379500-nitecore-d4-4-slot-battery-charger-w-2-samsung

You would LOVE this setup, and I think it'd be cheaper in the first place than 3 of those cf's and a tank, much better too!

Don't forget to pick up a couple packs of spare coils if you go this route, too.

Howdy, welcome to the ECF!

I definitely recommend checking out some of the awesome regulated devices on the market. I have to second @LouisLeBeau's sentiment: Get a device with replaceable batteries rather than internal ones. In the end, it's one less variable that you have to worry about the on-board chip chuffing up.

The Aspire CF kit is pretty good for a starter kit. It'll give you everything you need all in one, but as I mentioned above, I'm not the biggest fan of non-replaceable internal batteries. Not to mention (I could be wrong) I think the Aspire CF battery is charged through the actual 510 port. I'm not a fan of this style of charging, as -- more often than not -- the 510 chargers are garbage.

Something like the eVic VT Mini would be perfect in my opinion. Replaceable battery, variable wattage, ability to go to temp control heads (should you choose). You could toss something like a Subtank or Atlantis, which is the same tank in the kit you were looking at, on top of it, and it'd work great. It'd also give you plenty of room to buy/try other tanks and maybe even rebuildables if you wanna.

I'm sure this thread will be flooded with suggestions, and there are tons of good options on the market these days, but I'd stick with these main criteria considering you're a new vaper:

1. Regulated mod with removeable batteries.
2. Tank with pre-built heads.
3. Batteries from a reliable vendor (Illumn.com is my go-to).

Hope that helps a bit.

Welcome.

Subohm isn't some sort of voodoo. It might have been a little 'complicated' back when we were making coils (under 1.0ohm) for atomizers to put on mechs, but these days it's straightforward-ish. Get the right battery and tank, vape on. :)
If you want to make your own coils, then some homework is in order, of course.

Welcome. Might want to visit a local vape shop and get some free advice. Could check the search function in upper right hand corner of this post as to questions.

That was the first thing i did before posting here.

There were too many different opinions on what to get etc.

There should be a poll on this too determine what the majority of vapers think is best to start off with and stick thread

Cheers, appreciate all the input.

I have decided to purchase the following:
eVic VT mini
Atlantis tank
nitecore charger

my only concern now is battery. which is the best for this setup and what would be the lowest resistance i can fire this mod at?

Hello and Welcome bti_jet

I use the Samsung 25R 18650 , other good ones many use are the Sony VTC4
You're probably aware of some vape shops in Melb that are ok or I order often from Vapoureyes in SA.

OK sweet, ill give Vapoureyes a crack. most of the sites posted on here are US based. I've heard a few poeple buy from vaporkings

I have ordered from vapeking Australia not vaporkings.

I mostly use Vapoureyes because being in SA and me in Perth the orders get here a bit faster and they have free regular shipping if you spend $50 or more and free express at $75 or more.
Though they can't send batteries via express.
Also one of the owners Morris does vape and keep up to date on vaping.

Here are good batteries. Keep in mind, despite advertisements: There is no true 35A CDR battery on the market. Period.

http://www.illumn.com/18650-lg-18650he4-2500mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html
http://www.illumn.com/18650-samsung-inr18650-25r-r5-2500mah-green-high-discharge-flat-top.html (same as the light blue Samsung 25R's)
http://www.illumn.com/18650-sony-us18650vtc4-2100mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html
http://www.illumn.com/18650-sony-us18650vtc5-2600mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html (not 30A despite being often mislabeled as such)

All of these batteries will be safe to fire to about .3 ohms. Beyond that you're in "on your own" territory.

Thanks for the advice champ, i picked up a pair of samsung 25R light blue, i might buy a pair of sony vtc4. Seems there the most rated batteries.

I'm also looking at getting a crown tank, i will stay above .3ohm.

I haven't purchased the atlantis tank, as the evic comes with a ego one Mega. Is it safe to use the Ni0.2 blue coil it comes with?

I'm using a evic vt mini with Samsung 25R light blue.

I took that coil out as someone else here said not to go lower than .3

In temp control mode that doesn't matter. Nickel coils have a naturally low resistance, you'll rarely come across a nickel coil that's above .5 ohms. The person who told you that is sorely misinformed, or did not understand that you're using a temp control device.

Thanks mate, learned a bit the last few days. prefer to learn before an error happens. I already had a bit of an experience when i first started my coil i had it set normal, the strong burnt taste was killing me, i thought my device was faulty, took a few tries to get it right lol, till i put it in Temp Ti mode

Oof that's rough. On that note, I'd be careful about oxidizing Ti or Ni by dry-burning them. It's a bit sketchy, the things that happen, when they're super-heated.
