Batteries gathering dust

I have two Xtar 18650 batteries that i have not used in a while. I used them in my first mech like 5 months ago. one I used for a while in smok SID for work but its way too big in 18650 mode and i dont even use it anymore. They are just a bit too long. they dont fit in any of my VW besides the sid and they make threads show in my mechs. how quickly are they degrading over time/is it unsafe to just be storing them? If down the line i were to give them to a friend that started vaping would that be ok? thx

If they have been stored in a cool dry area, and have less than 250 charge cycles, they should be fine. Batteries should be stored between 60 - 75 % capacity while not in use. Expect some self discharge while out of use.

If you give them away, just be sure to tell the recipient that they are indeed used batteries, estimate how long you used them, and that you never ran them hard when in use.
