I didn't have the atty hooked up to the new one yet, am waiting for connectors so I can try out the 510(VX2/J118 is the current). I was mainly checking to see if it would charge up the cell battery.

Well I did something wrong this time around. Last month I did up a quick mod using the Lenmar charger from radio shack since my regular batteries died the night before. The next day I turned the Digi into a skull pipe.
And in the past two days while trying to make a more permanent replacement for both of these they both drain too fast to be anything but a passthrough.

check where the male connector is hooked up to the board see if when desoldering you crossed 2.
It works as a standalone and as a passthru. I found that the performance suffers if you run down the battery and use it as passthru while charging, so I wouldn't run it all the way down if you can avoid. You can also solder it to the batt or to the usb output. One of mine lost output at the usb after a couple weeks of use, so I had to move it to the batter leads. The other I ripped off the trace when I was making it so I had to solder at the battery.
Well, here I go to Radio Shack to pick one of these up. Gonna use my Sidesho atty on mine. Has anyone found out what the actual voltage is to the atty?
I found if wired off the battery u get 4.1v fully charged and if wired at the usb output u get 5.4v fully charged. Seems have some sort of booster for the output.
BTW.... We used my girlfriends Sidesho atty briefly and it did great. be careful dont let it dry out on u.
Well that's weird. I was getting the same voltage from the USB leads as from the battery.
I'm only guessing but I think there was some kind of booster on the output. I know you get 5v off a standard usb in a computer so maybe it had to boost the voltage for some or all phones. That's is just an uneducated guess of mine. I definitely got a little over 5v on both my digipowers. I'm about to do another one for a friend starting tomorrow, assuming I can get the digipower, I'll check it as well to verify these voltages.
I just found the specs on the Digipower - the battery is a 3.7V Li-Ion @ 220maH. The model# for the battery is E6220225.
I just wanted to mark this thread to come back to it later, I like this idea but I believe the charger is rated too low (amperage wise) for the 18650's I just ordered. I think it would take as long to charge them as it would to drain them in the pv. I am curious as to what else we could tear apart and gut for this application. I was also thinking of gutting a two piece (one with the cord and the battery holder) single battery charger (ac) for the guts but even being an electrician I don't think I'd feel safe with a potential 120 volts going to my mouth trying to use it as a passthrough...

i got this all set up in a 2AA batt box. i couldn't get it working through the usb connection some reason. so i just direct connected it to the battery. is the only real difference here going to be it running at 3.7v instead of 5v?

Hey everyone. I picked up a digipower today from Radio Shack. I've been using the stock batteries for a 510 for about 3 months now, and they aren't cutting it anymore. I'm going to attempt my first mod with this thing. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Well, I finished the wiring and something is wrong. As soon as I screw in the atomizer i can hear it heating up. so even though the switch isn't activated, the atomizer is still running. Any thoughts on what I may have done wrong?

Well, I can't find an edit button, so I thought I would add that I was using the original configuration for the mod that codfish used. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.
