Hey, I have been vaping for about a month now and I love it :)

The only issue I have is that, holy cow I am having issues with breaking out BIG TIME and its only getting worse.

I was one of those mutant teenagers who never got a pimple, I have never had acne or breakouts before. I am thirty now, and ever since I began vaping I have had a breakout of tons of tiny bumps all over my forehead, my mom insists it looks more like a rash than acne but either way--It is driving me crazy lol

I have done a bit of research and I have read up about people who experience allergies such as this due to PG. The shop I buy all my juice from mixes their own and told me that they use a 70/30 mix of VG and PG in most of their juice and told me that is usually the norm. They told me that there is no such thing as a totally PG free juice, which kind of conflicts with what I have been reading online.

my question is, for people who have experienced this, did switching to a organic or PG free juice help? I know that in the grand scheme of life, a bumpy rash on my forehead is not that huge of a problem but due to a genetic condition I have, my skin is very sensitive and thin, it scars very easily and its just bothering me.

I guess this is a rather leading question, but I am just hoping to find folks who experienced rashes or breakouts and had the issue resolved by switching to a PG free juice

I did quit smoking using the vape and I know many people think that many times people are confusing having a PG sensitivity to getting "quit zits" but I have never had this before when quitting smoking in the past and it seems to just be getting worse.

Additionally, after this started, I ran out and bought OTC acne medications and have found it not helping...however, when I applied OTC cortizone cream on my forehead that DID help a little bit. Given my experiences plus my history of having sensitive skin and allergic breakouts from totally normal things such as soap, body lotions, certain foods or medications(my immune system is a jerk), It would be just my luck to find myself in love with vaping and then my body come up with a problem with my new found love ;)

so yeah, basically, anyone who has experienced skin freak-outs from vaping, let me know your experience, what worked for you? what didn't? Did your skin ever completely clear up once you switched to a PG free juice?

Sorry for the novel guys :) I have done research on this and have a few different websites I found that I am considering purchasing from but I wanted to hear from peoples experiences with what worked for them before I decide what to spend more money on.

The statement of that no juice 100% VG is mostly correct, a 100% VG juice would be just that, straight, unflavored VG with no nicotine or flavorings. Most liquids that claim they are 100% VG are roughly 90% to 80% VG, there is no getting around it as each addative dilutes the VG down. There are some organic liquids out there in the 80% and higher VG content, Virgin Vapors Liquids being one that comes to mind that use organic flavoring extracts and distilled water some times to thin their juices down. Have to remember PG is in all types of day to day products from toothpaste to food flavorings and food colorings in your foods you eat.

I noticed you mentioned trouble with soaps and others, my ex-significant other had fragrance allergies, so it could be the fragrances also giving you trouble. I'd suggest, to help narrow things down, moving to an unflavored liquid (generally just the nicotine base liquid) you can find and order in your preferred nicotine strength and 100% VG base from vendors like Nude Nicotine while you shop around for online vendors which use organic compounds like Virgin Vapors. Also maybe try vaping in well ventilated areas or areas with good air movement to keep vapor accumulation from gathering so it doesn't collect up on your skin and get into a routine of washing areas that break out regularly a couple times a day. Just suggestions, and hope you get things figured out soon.

/edit
Also I'd very adamantly suggest talking to your family physician to get a recommendation for an allergy specialist or allergy/internal medicine specialist while trying to figure this out.

Wish I could help. I am sure someone will pop up that knows about this.
thank you :) I always get nervous when I post something because I know it can be annoying to see the same questions pop up time and again, which is why I did research this quite a bit before posting but I still feel a bit lost as to what I should do and would love to hear what has worked for others. I had originally began vaping using the eleaf icare and then the other day I purchased the Smok Stick V8 kit and I noticed since starting using the stick, which is much stronger than my little icare, that im getting more bumps on my face and that my face kind of has this itching/burning sensation going on afterwards. From what I understand, this could be because I am absorbing more since the stick is more powerful, so its agitating my system more.

Thanks :) Yeah, I think that is why I was compelled to post here, because while I was told theres no such thing as 100% PG free, I keep finding these websites with awesome flavors that claim to be lol. I have been looking at flavors at virgin vapors alot actually :) my confusion about the site saying some of their juices are 100% PG free and the fact that I had been told you need some PG in it for flavoring is what lead me to post this lol

I will definitely check out nude nicotine, unflavored liquid is something I didn't even think of :) That way, if I use that and the issue clears up, I will have a definitive answer(and if it doesnt clear up, I will just be confused but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it lol)

yeah, I have always had sensitivity to all sorts of things, and as a kid I would get rashes on my legs from soaps and stuff BUT never anything on my face. I just cant imagine what else could be the culprit and it seems to be getting worse the longer I vape. I was lucky enough to never get pimples, I have had a few in my thirty years of life lol, so suddenly having hundreds of bumps and redness all over my forehead for a month now, has been frusturating. My moms advice was to quit vaping, but I am hoping the lower PG juices or the unflavored juices will eliminate the problem so I don't have to quit :)

Thanks for your suggestions, I feel like a dork a I am somewhat new to all of this. When I quit smoking, I initially was using those vuse eciggs and got a few bumps on my forehead by my hairline but didn't think anything of it. Then, as I got my icare vape and began vaping daily, it became worse and worse but I didn't correlate the two until my mom got sick of hearing me complaining and decided to google it and informed me that some people believe that theres a connection between breaking out and the PG in the juice, I had never thought that it could be the cause but the timing makes it hard to ignore. Hopefully the unflavored juice will help me figure it out, thank you so much :)

Sorry to hear it. I've had similar issues and feel that moving to higher power sub ohm contributed. I'm relatively ok if I use UNflavored vg most of the day. I only use flavored in the morning and a few times on an rda later at night. Also google sucrolose and acne.
Have you tried using witchhazel at night on your skin? It helps and doesn't dry it out like benzoyl peroxide. Hope you find a fix.

It took me more than a month to get my skin in order after quitting smoking and starting vaping. I also felt like my face was hot and flushed. It just simply passed. The only thing I did differently was moisturize more thinking a protective barrier might help and I drink more just because my mouth feels drier. This isn't to say you don't truly have a sensitivity. Who knows... Anyway, there are PG free liquids such as Virgin Vapors that you can try or try unflavored or maybe just wait it out. Since transitioning completely and getting back in order my face feels better than it has in a long time but it was nasty for a bit.

Yes there are pg free eliquids. Some very good ones. I get tired of the misinformation.

I have a dx'd allergy to pg. The first time was a rash, full body, reaction to anesthesia and before vaping. PG allergy can become severe without warning, so it's not something to push. PG is everywhere, in everything so you don't want to trigger a severe reaction since there's no going back.

There are a number of companies using pg free flavorings; medicine flower has become my fav. There's sc (super concentrates), real flavors which uses a pg substitute, some tobacco nets use vg only and someone mentioned nude nic. A good share of those vaping 100% vg diy or vape unflavored which is not bad. It's slightly sweet. If you suspect an allergy, you might go that route and see if your rash clears. Nude nic has a great sample offer for the price of shipping.

Flavors can play havoc with allergies with one supplier's strawberry triggering an allergy while another suppliers strawberry doesn't. There's no magic formula other than challenge testing for reactions. There's reason to think that organics may be worse because they duplicate allergens more closely than synthetics, but it really is individual. The way favors are compounded it's on a molecular level and not like baking a pie. I wouldn't worry about organic vs synthetic. It's about the molecule's structure.

There was a blog post listing about 20+ pg free eliquid manufacturers that were really pg free. I've lost track since I started diy. Some have gone out of business due to regulations [emoji20] My latest fascination has been The Vapor Kitchen. Also Virgin Vapors, Heathers has a purity line, Nude Nic, Naturally Extracted Tobacco and I don't remember who else. Open Source (no longer in biz) has diy recipes online.

One thing about vg is they do need to steep for full flavor - and not for weeks but more like months. I've set aside bland liquids and discovered them 6 months later = tasty and pleased. It's definitely a pita but worth it to continue vaping.

If it were me, I'd start with unflavored and if you didn't clear up, something else is going on. If you do clear up, then test a liquid one at a time to eventually figure out what your having an issue with. Another common allergen is cinnamon.

But yes, there are pg free liquids.

Vape Organics
Johnson Creek
Velvet Cloud
Virgin Vapor
Velvet Vapor
Raindrop Vape
ECBlend
Quackers
Sejuiced
Heathers Heavenly Vapor
Hothouse Vapors
More?
(Note: I have not tried all of these)

Update: I just sent Vape Kitchen an email. Looks like they've gone to max vg. [emoji20]

I had the same issue and with a process of elimination I found it was the flavoured ejuice that was doing it,i tried different brands and the same thing...pimples galore.

Once I stopped using flavours the pimples went away,i now vape unflavoured juice.

People seem to jump on the PG as the cause and I'm willing to bet more often than not it is the flavoured juice causing the pimples.

Did you quit smoking when you started vaping? It's worth considering the possibility that this is not about a sensitivity to what you're vaping, but a consequence of quitting smoking. Anecdotally, this is pretty common, and tends to pass after a while. I have no idea why that would be the case, but it seems to be so for many people.
