At 35W at low charge that is ~6A draw

Amps are going to change a little depending on the Coil... the most I have ever seen my box pushing over any of the builds I have done so far is about 5.5A.... I will admit that I can't swear I did not swap out the batteries before they were low. I normally drop a new set in when I go home for the night... so on average... I run 4 batteries a day.... (two at work, and two at home)

right now I am at 3.7A (6.8V) w/25.5Watts on a 1.78 ohm Kanthal coil...

At 30 - 50W you don't need to worry so much. It's when you push past 50W you need a true 20A battery and past about 75-80W you need a 30A.
on a .3 build running at 85W assuming you have 2 25rs in the mod and you ran your batteries down to 3.2 volts. at 3.2 volts per battery you are drawing around 17 amps. so why do you need a 30A battery at this point?

The resistance of the coil does not matter with a regulated mod. 35W is 35W.

You only need two numbers. Wattage desired and battery voltage. I use whatever voltage the batteries are at when the mod says they need to be recharged as the battery voltage in this equation. Generally around 3.2V per cell.

In a series box I use 6.4V.

So if I want to calculate current draw (A) at 50W the math is W/V = A or 50W/6.4V = 7.8A

I also add 10% for converter inefficiencies. So that makes it 8.58A at 50W.

Because you need to factor for headroom and ageing of the cells.

Are INR18650-30Q new on the market? 3000mah 35amp batteries?
Yes, these are from Samsung, but they are 15 amp CDR, not 35 amps.

^^^This. At 85W you are pulling about 13A. Still safe with a 20A batter, but barely. At 100W you are over 18A. At 125W you top 20A. I use 85W as a safe cutoff point for a 20A battery.

There's this Battery that recently seems to be in all the vape shops I frequent. Brand is AWT. Has anyone heard of it? I haven't asked about it yet since I still have a lot of good batteries. I didn't want to spend more yet.
They are relatively new on the market. Not much is known about them that I have read about except to say they are an average performing IMR battery. You can find better batteries than these.

My guess is it is a re-labeled cell by one of the main battery manufacturers (second or third tier Samsung or LG); I believe AWT over-rate their battery specs much like Efest does. Probably has a true 20 amp cdr or less. There are no genuine 35 amp CDR 18650 batteries being made in the world. Test/Review of AWT IMR18650 2500mAh (Yellow)

It's my first mod over 100w it will either be the sig 150tc or the xcube 2,
I will use my own builds around 0.1/5 ohms, would love a set of batteries which would allow me to chain vape on tanks for at least a day.

What are you guys using? I will buy 4 batteries and obviously ditch them and buy more when they start to die

At what wattage?

On regulated mods the resistance does not matter as long as the mod will fire it.

This would depend upon if you plan to consistantly vape over 80 watts with that device. If yes, then the SonyVTC4 2100 mah 30 amp cdr batteries should be your choice.

Around 80w with the smok tank, with my subtanks less, would be under 40w when using my subtanks, so no consistency on wattage but under 100w id say

    I agree with @Baditude.
I tested the "40A" 2600mAh AWT and it was only a 20A battery.

I have never used anything but Sony VTC4's. They are overkill for anything over 1 ohm for sure, but they have the highest mAh (time between charges) of any battery that can safely put out over 20A. They are $6 - $7 each and the first pair I bought is over 9 months old now and still going strong in a mech that I routinely put <.5 ohm builds on. 4 of them should last you all day unless you vape like I do. :thumb:
