The ever elusive far northeastern Sloth may be small, but generally wears a large size t-shirt :D:D
 #baggyclothingsloth

ETA you're spot on with that high season note, and if it weren't for that, you'd best bet I'd be in SF in August, hanging with my good pal DB :)

Sloth cloth size dually noted...;)

If you do ever make it to my neck O' the woods, be sure to look me up. I'd be more than happy to give you the back street tour of S.F Distorto style...:D #notouristtraps

One day it will most certainly come to fruition, my friend. I've been all over the east (literally, I've hiked half the east coast, been to the rest of the states, lived in 3 of them) but never been further west than Chicago. Chrissy and I have been talking about saving up some vacation time and trying to get a month off at some point, to go hike out west. And when that happens my friend...you'd best believe you'll be hearing from me ;)

If I may make a suggestion.

You might want to choose one of the following options.

1) Take some of that time to drive the country and enjoy the scenery changes.

2) After retirement, RV the country.

Aside from the multitude of cities, a short drive just the length of California from north to south or vice versa offers an amazing, ever changing glimpse at nearly all the terrain and scenery there is to see in the U.S..

If you were to start on the south end, I'd recommend taking I8 west to California 125 south to Otey Mesa road. Stop at one of the truck stops and get on the shuttle to Tijuana. Enjoy the day trip there.

Then take I5 north to Wheeler Ridge and pick up California 99 north. Feel free to get off anywhere south of Los Angeles and head just a mile or two to the beach.

Travel California 99 up to Red Bluff and hop back on I5 north.

On the south end, I highly recommend the diner inside the Golden Acorn casino in San Diego County.

Also highly recommended diner, the Outpost Cafe in Oak Hills.

And Pea Soup Andersons in Gustine, Ca.

You won't see the desert Forrest of southern Texas, the red terrain of Oklahoma or the vast flatness and openness of central and Midwest states across I80 along that route. But you can see them along the drive in and out.

And of course, if you're driving, you can stop, camp and hike anywhere you like.

Bonus points for driving.

Ss 316L does have a very nice benefit of being highly malleable for coiling, yet strong enough for a rayon wick job ;)

I'm thinking I'll try a 12 wrap 26ga 3/32 inner diameter duals next to bring the heat down a little, and get more battery life. Slowly getting to where I wanna!

Aside to Corey, what's the size of the bigger oring that you provided for the 510 (where the atty sites on)? Finally lost mine [emoji28]

The thicker o-ring for under the atty is:

1.5mm X 9mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring

It's 12mm OD X 9mm ID with 1.5mm cross section. :thumb:

Thanks for the tips, yes I greatly prefer driving for all the reasons you mention. A sloth honestly can't stand cities, so would avoid cities, with the exception of cities where I can visit friends. Nothing is better than a good road trip...I've always loved it, the freedom is incredible :) and I am excited to see the scenery when I make it out that way!

Plan to go through LA at night. It's the most congested, slowest moving city in the country for traffic.

2 AM
Heading north or south
20 to 30 minutes and it's behind you

6 AM
2 to 6 hours depending on season and incidents

I had a friend who made a trip across the southern US, then up through Cali (headed to Berkeley), and said the same thing. She went through LA I believe literally around 2 am on purpose.

Yeah, LA...if it's worse than Boston or NYC, no way! :D

DFW is considered the national average for congestion in cities and slowed movement.

NYC is just below that (slightly worse) though a small handful of cities are in between.

LA takes the cake by a wide margin.

Besides - if I drove through LA during the day, I'd be spotted by Hollywood and they would try to make a Sloth famous and what not...

Oh wait, that would kick ayuss :w00t:

I'd have to weigh the pay against the traffic.

Unless there's a helicopter pad atop the studios.

I got a nice surprise today. Well, one which I was hoping to be the case but not sure. I recently traded for a No Pity atty which quickly became a favorite of mine for the awesome flavor and a really moist vape. It has a somewhat restricted airflow which is tighter than I usually enjoy but I've come to actually appreciate.

I also recently picked up a Tsunami, which has a very similar design but more open air, intending to use it with a Noisy Cricket. I remembered, after using the Cricket a couple of times, why I love bottom feeders so much (shakey hands and dripping don't mix well). I was going to sell it with the Cricket but after falling for the No Pity decided to convert it to BF and see if I could get the same, or at least similar, vape quality as I was getting from the No Pity. I ordered some BF pins from Fat Daddy (which I had read would work) and they came in today. The pin replaces the original with absolutely no modification perfectly.

Anyway, long(er) story short(er), it has surpassed my expectations. For about $27 all in, I'm getting the vape quality of an atty that sells for $100 more, and it's not a clone.

Being bottom fed does present the issue of over squonking and flooding the air flow but with a little practice that hasn't been a problem.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone who likes a moist, flavorful vape.

Yeah duals for me. Let me fudge around more and see how it goes. I'm determined to give it a good run before I make my judgements. [emoji51]
Try a single coil using a larger gauge wire, and dial your airflow back some. I have found that with my SS, I tend to prefer a good single coil (my current favorite is the boneyard coil) over a dual kanthal build.
I will repost the pic of my new favorite coil:

A bit of news........

I had a chunk of 7068 left from the last run.

hJRExarl.jpg

It should be enough to make 10 to 14 mods. Not enough to cover the 25 mod minimum, but we've negotiated to throw that in with a batch of 25 of 6061. I'll be paying a little more than the 25 unit pricing for the 7068, but paying a little less than the 25 unit pricing for the 6061.

Long story short,...It's not a huge sum of money, per unit,...so I'll be able to keep the 7068 pricing the same, and still offer the 6061 at $350. This $350 will be the base price, with brass negative contact, and reo style bottles. Obviously upgradable...

This is just in an effort to make the mod a little more affordable for those who would appreciate such a thing, while still being able to offer the 7068 to those who prefer the harder material.

We're looking at 3 to 4 weeks for completion. I'll be doing the SS, and Copper in the meantime. There's also 1 Brassy and 1 SS mod left that aren't spoken for.
