Did you know that Altria (parent company of Philip Morris) and R. J. Reynolds have been vocal supporters of the FDA deeming regulations currently threatening the vapor market? This is the best analysis I've seen of how, where and why Big tobacco has supported and encouraged the FDA to squash the vapor industry:

Glinda, in a word, no.

As far as Big Tobacco is concerned, the FDA turned down the screws too much for their liking. The FDA set the bar so high that even BT can't clear the hurdle.

Altria's window-dressing statements

1) “support manufacturers’ efforts to develop and bring to market innovative products that may advance the public health.”

2) “allow industry participants to engage and compete in a dynamic market.”

Are pure big-corporate BS. Altria's strategy is to get the PTMA expenses down low enough to get their cig-a-likes through the FDA, but specifically not the open systems and e-liquids of the small manufacturers.
