Build Catching Fire???

So my friend has this setup.
Troll RTA: 3mm, 24 Gauge Kanthal, 5 wrap spaced, dual.
Mod: smok Alien 220W

This build is set to be around 0.25 ohms. So my friend has been able to fire the coils evenly. The wicking was excellent. But when he primes and fires the build with eliquid, it sets off a fire. He fires it around 60w and pulse fires and the coils turn orange with the liquid and catches fire. It also catches at 30w. I've been helping him through skype for 7 hours already. I don't know whats the issue.

I have the exact build with this and had no issues.

Was it burning evenly dry?

Sounds like a hot spot.. what is the actual ohm of the build? How long does it take to get red and ignite when wet?

The actually ohm was about 0.25-0.26. It had no hot spots and it took 3.0 seconds before it caught fire when wet.

He has tried 4 new pairs of coils.

Is he using the mod to Meter the coil or a meter?
Do other atty work correctly?


I can see potential for ignition at 60 plus watts but not below..... just base on heat flux....... could just be choked wicking or not wet enough.

Oh so this whole thing was about using TC mode with non TC wire...

I guess I should have asked what the setting were...
