Building coils

Been trying my hand at coil building and these are what I have completed! Lets see some of your work!

26g n80 3 loop vertebraid 3.5mm i.d. 7 wrap single coil in my goon! .20 ohms single coil!

26g n80 x2 34g ka1 wrap 2.5mm i.d. in my kayfun 5, .45 ohms

26g n80 x2 36g n80 wrap 3.5mm i.d. staged with lightly twisted 24g ss316l, .09 ohms, please use good batteries for builds like this!

26g n80 x2 36g n80 wrap 3mm i.d. sleeper coil, 6 wraps each, .2 ohms! First time trying out a sleeper, what a PITA

Nice! I heard good feedbacks on Clapton coil. Try making them? Hahaha. My mod will take forever to power then up so will prolly try some Clapton after changing a mod.

Can one, no problem, single coil 2.5mm i.d. like in my kayfun 5!

Make! Slowly, with practise, all you need is a drill, some fishing swivels, a thing like a vice to hold your swivel and the most important thing, patience!

Nice looking coils. Tried a clapton once, took too long to ramp up. Favorite is still a twisted 28G kanthal. Too tame for you though. Lol.

Nice builds and thanks for opening this thread, I was about to do so with the following gwestion.

@All, are you building your Clapton wires yourselfs or do you buy them online?

Besides that I have been watching builds on YouTube and there are tons of nice builds, can't wait to get my stuff to start building myself.

Just one more question, do you get your wire locally? Because I'm looking for some titanium and kanthal wire as I'm allergic to nickel and therefore can't use nicrchome.

I get my wires locally. Someone mentioned that Sim Lim Tower sells kanthal? Else, just google for it. Wires are a grey area, but there's a no sourcing rule on this forum...

@DaywaIker alker, I also get my wires locally and build them myself. I love nichrome because the resistance is lower than kanthal, hence, I can use more wraps to get to the same resistance as kanthal which usually equals to more surface area; more vapour.

Also, I find that the flavour from nichrome is cleaner than kanthal!

@crazyhendrix, i'm pushing about 140W for the fused claptons in my goon with wide open airflow, nice warm vape! Ramp up is still acceptable.

28G kanthal, try the 3 loop vertebraid? Ramp up is almost non existent but the ohm's get ridiculously low and the coils are massive.

Stainless is a good alternative. I'm using SS all the time.

Yeah, I am so used to SS that I use it for all my atties... and a good coil can last a few weeks. Dry burning works well.
Only issues I've ever had have been temp/wattage misreading but that's usually my connection issue.

Managed to build these framed staple coils on my 2nd try! Build specs - 6x .5ka1 core, 2x 26g n80 frame and 38g n80 wrap. 3mm i.d. 5 wraps dual coil comes out to .1 ohms! Vapes like a champ!!!

The prep work is kind of a PITA though.

Also built these 28g n80 3 loop vertebraids, 3mm i.d. 5 wrap dual coil comes out to .13 ohms. Finally getting some nice throat hit that fused claptons cannot produce.

What's everyone building these days? So quiet! I'm just back to regular fused claptons, easy and fast!

Going to start trying some staggered fused claptons.. need to find some thin gauge fishing line so I don't have to waste wire.
