Can you use a lathe like this.....

Thanks for the jaw dropping vid, but if you mean "you" as in I, myself, the answer is a resounding NO. That is one sweet lathe, but if I had one, the answer would still be no. Matter of fact, I have never been able to chuck up a square or cube in a three jaw chuck, and that was just the starting point.
Very nice. I doubt I could ever do that either. There is a wood version with just a forstner bit (not even in a drill press) and sandpaper, that looks somewhat more possible. I bet this guy was really good at math in school.

That was truly awesome! For added flair the turning a cylinder into a cube was pretty cool, although I myself would never try workholding like that, I'd be to afraid it would fly off and smash my face. I had no idea what the hot glue was for until the end, brilliant! Wish I still had access to even a tiny lathe like that. Miss being a machinist.

wow, i guess you really can make anything with just a lathe. I always heard the guys in the machine shop say this when i was a welder but never believed it till now.
When brain, hands and eyes mesh with machine.
I bet he is a really good ping pong player as well.
