Hey forum, wanted to know what you guys do to clean ur mech mods. What chemicals do you use? I've seen a video were a guy uses lemon juice. I have a stingray x and it's starting to get pretty dirty very quickly.
There are several ways to clean copper. Lemon juice is one. Ketchup is another. Boiling in water, vinegar and a little salt. Or using a commercial metal polish.
Have not cleaned a metal mod , currently using a wooden mod.
Guess I would just use a typical non corrosive cleaner.
I do use an eraser then some dioxit gold on the terminals and springs on my Reo.
For general regular cleaning I strip down the mod and use a toothbrush with washing up liquid and hot water. For copper and brass I wash first, then use Brasso to polish it.
A little glass cleaner on a paper towel will get the finger oils and juice spills off it. If it's copper or brass, and you don't like the patina, use a metal polish. Put it on, wait for it to change colors, polish it off.
you can use lemon juice and salt to quickly remove a patina. This won't make your mod a polished shine though. For that, a cape cod cloth works perfectly. I actually spin my mod on a cordless drill and hold the cape cod cloth on it. After the cape cod, I buff it with a microfiber cloth. It literally takes less than 2 minutes. I have enough old parts to find something with a 510 on it that I can chuck in my drill and use to quickly spin that mod. It works so fast.
Dampen cloth (not drenched) with Isopropyl then Wipe it down to remove the dirt, grease, body olis, etc.
Then get a Jewelers' Cloth (Wally-World sells them in the little Jewelry & Watch Dept.) to buff & polish. They don't make one specifically for Copper (or at least don;t sell them at Wally) but the ones made for Gold work awesome.
Big Fan of Copper and copper Vape Equip and that Method has served me and my stuff quite well.
