Since I went from horizontal to vertical builds on my veritas (mainly because I find them easier to install), coil longevity wasn't as good as I had with the horizontal builds.

Due to the coil length, the top part of the coil wouldn't get enough air flow and the wick would start to darken near the top after only 5 to 10 draws. So I ended up replacing the coils more often.

Yesterday I thought of attempting this build. Variable spacing: closer wraps near the airflow, more spaced wraps near the top where little air flow is available.

Impressed with results so far, still need to see how it holds up.

Please share your experiences with variable spacing.
