Yes kanthol and nichrome are resistance wire, there's some odd balls in there like rene 41.
Nickel, titanium, ss etc are for temp control.

Regular wire, if it will even run, will/can melt, short or damage the mod or even make you sick depending on how its made.

What kind of wire is it?

Regular kanthol is like 8 bucks for 100 feet at temco supply. Other suppliers as well, dont get ripped off buying a small piece at a vape shop unless your just getting some to try out.

Hi and welcome to the ECF Family. If you go to YouTube and search Vape Mod Coiling, you'll be presented with all, or most of the answers you need to build coils. Look for some of super_X_drifters videos. For me, his style really helped me to learn about building coils. Like everything else, there is no one way or right way. There are, however some wrong ways so learn about ohms law and be safe..

Hi do I need a certain brand of wire to create my coils because I have 28 ga and it's not kanthal or nickle
It's not a question of brand so much as type, ga. and temp. characteristics. Might want to read up on how to select coil wire. If you are finicky about your build and want to maximize your vape, study the subject. If you are an average vaper, Kanthal or nichrome will work fine IMO.
