We had a great cruise!....8 days of perfect weather. Nick & Nora's Steakhouse is definitely a must-do! I've finally gotten to the point where I like other classes of ships better than the Spirit class. They've made the main Lido deck non-smoking except for the forward pool. Since our friends smoke we felt banished just to hang out with them. We didn't use the Serenity area....after seeing how they were with e-cigs in the casino we didn't want to push it in the Serenity area (although we have used the e-cigs in that area on past cruises)

We're back from our Nov. 6 to 14 Miracle cruise. I vaped all over without a word from anyone. I mostly took a small hit when in non smoking areas. We didn't do the steakhouse, but found the MDR food and service to be excellent. We had a great time after the hurricane did lots of damage in our neighborhood. We were without power for six days after the storm. We got it back three days before we left and the Manhattan pier still has no power. No elevators, escalators or heat.

There are a couple rules of thumb to keep in mind regarding smoking on cruises:

1)No U.S.-affiliated cruise ship still allows smoking anywhere in dining rooms/restaurants.
2)No U.S.-affiliated cruise ship still allows smoking anywhere in theaters.
3)Just because smoking is permitted somewhere, it doesn't mean that all forms of tobacco can be smoked there. Cigar/pipe smoking is generally only permitted in cigar bars and designated outdoor areas while cigarette smoking may be permitted in jazz clubs, dance clubs, food-serving bars, and casinos. It all depends on the ship.
4)Most U.S.-affiliated cruise ships have an e-cigarette policy, and most of the time, e-cigs are treated the same as analog cigs in terms of smoking (vaping) restrictions. vaping in your non-smoking room is recommended if you are worried about being scolded for vaping in a non-smoking area.
5)Designated outdoor smoking areas are generally on only one side of the ship (either port or starboard).
6)Smoking policies do not intentionally conform to any state, territory, or country smoking bans.
7)Never make assumptions about a smoking/vaping policy even if something seems obvious, common sense, or intuitive. Look for indicators of a smoking or non-smoking section (i.e. ashtrays or "no smoking" signs respectively). While it would "make sense" for them to allow smoking or vaping in casinos, it doesn't mean that they do.
8)Just because vaping/smoking is prohibited inside your room, it doesn't mean that it's permitted on your balcony.
9)If you smell smoke, it doesn't mean that the entire indoor establishment permits smoking/vaping. Smoking may only be permitted in designated areas of that establishment. Carnival Freedom is a good example. They permit smoking in casinos in designated areas only. Once again, look for ashtrays on tables and counters and note which tables and counters have ashtrays and which do not.
10)If you are vaping/smoking in a designated smoking/vaping section, blatantly ignore anyone (most likely a non-smoker) who complains about you smoking/vaping.

So has anyone been questioned bringing on their ejuice? I will be taking my first cruise this year. I plan on having it in my carry on as I won't let it be away from me for 5 seconds! I wondered if they would think it was booze or something. My husband and I vape a lot so I will be sure to bring a lot. I mix my own so it will just be in plain bottles I get online or in my bottle of VG from walmart that I mix it in. We are going on the Carnival Dream in November so I am hoping they are lenient like others have reported. I have a hard time being discrete as I take a long draw otherwise I don't feel satisfied. So therefore I exhale a lot of vapor too. :) I just don't want to have to hang out in the smoking section and not be able to sit by the pool. I already figure I will get stared at like I do when on other vacations.

I have traveled for more than 3 years with vaping equipment. No one has ever questioned the juice. I put it in a baggie in my carryon (per FAA rules) and in my luggage. I have, however, been questioned every time about my ecig. Mainly curiosity. I use an 1100 EGO and it isn't what they are used to seeing. I answer their questions and off I go. Never a problem.

Have a great time!

I haven't had any issues at airports because they allow liquids in the approved size containers. I was just curious about cruise ships because they are so strict on liquor. Didn't want them trying to take it! But I supposed one they see the ecig etc it should make sense.

Just got back from my RCCL cruise. The security guys were so busy checking out my MVP that they missed the 12 pack of diet 7-up I had in my check on. I did get told I could not use my e-cig the one non-smoking night in the casino, but that was the only issue. Next cruise I will take some disposible for the crew, they are really interested in e-cigs.

Just got back also from a RCCL cruise to Bermuda out of Bayonnne New Jersey. Ship's security caught my vaping supplies, and I showed them what they did by taking a couple of puffs. After that everything went smoothly. I vaped in my non smoking room, but did not attempt to vape in non-smoking areas. The ship had a cigar lounge where you could smoke or vape 24/7, or on deck in designated areas. I could have given seminars. LOTs of interest in vaping. I took a bunch of business cards that I printed up on my computer to hand out about vaping and where to get a starter kit from Smokless Image. (I started there).

I highly recommend a small case like this one from WalMart called the Vaultz. It is only $8.89 and worth every penny: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Vaultz-Protective-Medicine-Case-1-Pk/13864190

As you can see it holds a ton of goodies and has a little pouch for small items, and attaches with Velcro. If you do any type of traveling or want something strong and good looking to carry, this is the case for you.

My Mother and I will be cruising around the British Isles this September on Regent Seven Seas Voyager. Going to be a great trip. Celebrating our 50th and 70th Bdays. Oh and I'll be hunting for Nessie when I get to Scotland. I heard he vapes. ;)

AND the best part is i just found out that Regent is vapor friendly! I can vape anywhere on the ship except for the dining areas! No problem, I never vape when I eat. And no silly "unless someone complains rule" I commend Regent for it's pro vaping policy! What a happy day.

"Electronic cigarette smoking is permitted throughout the ship with the exception of the dining areas mentioned above."

Hi Rabbit. I've cruised on Holland America a couple of times while still using analogs. Now I'm going with Princess for a couple of weeks to the Panama Canal. I'm interested in the case you suggested. I will have a Vamo and a couple of Vision spinners. Juice will be my DIY with ProTanks and chargers, etc. Is this case large enough for all that gear and did you use it as your "carry on". Thanks

PS the two attachments don't show up

I traveled (by plane) to Florida with the same case. I had a Vamo, backup box mod, multiple batteries cartos and tanks in there. No problem. Juice was in a ziploc. Good case for travel.

Royal Caribbean announced a new smoking policy today, it becomes effective on Jan 1, 2014 and prohibits balcony smoking (as well as e-cigs on balconies) .. here's the new policy:

effective Jan 1 2014, new smoking policy:

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy.

Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. Cigar and pipe tobacco is limited to designated outdoor areas and Cigar Bars**. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only permitted within the designated smoking areas.

Royal Caribbean International kindly asks all guests to please observe the smoking policy. These requests are made to provide a comfortable cruise for everyone. Guest may also inquire at Guest Services for the location of the designated smoking areas onboard.

Guests who violate this smoking policy may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of this Guest Conduct Policy.

Royal Caribbean updated the smoking policy July 2013 and the above policy is in enforcement on all ships with cruises departing on or after January 1, 2014.

We take at least 6 Royal Caribbean cruises a year .. I've vaped on all the RCL ships for over 3 years. I still plan to vape inside my cabin and also on my balcony. I've always been discreet about it anyway and stealth vaping is one of my specialities LOL. No one can tell if you're vaping inside your cabin anyway, because there is NO SMOKE and NO BURNING from e-cigs .. don't know why this is hard for the cruise lines and others to understand .. we are NOT smokers, we don't want to be around cigarette smoke .. and I am certainly not going to vape in the nasty smoking areas of the ship.

I just got off FOS. Was told that this policy came from corporate. The housekeeping director said his department is in charge of enforcing the policy and since they see no smoke, smell no smoke, then you must not be smoking. The guest relations manager said he will not be surprised to see a change to the e-cig policy prior to January. He said to write to corporate to explain the difference to try and get it corrected.

I just got off an 11 night on the Explorer .. The Guest Services Mgr told me that 1/2 of the crew is now using ecigs since RCL changed the crew smoking policy for them in August .. they can no longer smoke in their cabins or in the crew bar, only on the crew outside aft deck.

RCL had ecigs for sale in the general store up by the cash register, albeit they were the disposable ecigs .. at least they have them now.

We are Pinnacle members on RCL, we cruise every 7-8 weeks and I've been vaping on all RCL ships for over 3 years now, I've never had one single problem however I don't blatantly blow vapor in the main parts of the ship LOL. But I am a chain vapor in my cabin and on my balcony .. and I stealth vapor everywhere else, including sitting next to the captain at the captains table, on the bridge last week, in the theater etc ;-)

I will always vape in my cabin and on my balcony, and will continue to stealth vape everywhere else. And yes I was told the same as you by many of the crew and by the officers too, that they will not be enforcing it. However none of them believe that RCL will ever come right out and say that ecigs are OK like Princess does .. they said one of the RCL board members, who is the President of Celebrity, will never say ecigs are allowed because he doesn't want to hear the non-smoking guests constantly "reporting" that someone is smoking when, in fact, it will just be vapor.

I was told by C&A today to e-mail complaints about lumping e-cigs with smokers to mycruise@rccl.com C&A says they are being overwhelmed with complaints on this policy and with enough emails they expect it to be modified. I told her that by forcing me, a non-smoker, to inhale 2nd hand smoke was the same as holding a friend of Bill W meeting with an open bar. She agreed and then told me she used an e-cig also.
