My gastroenterologist, neurosurgeon, orthopedic surgeon, and chiropractor are all very happy to know that I have quit smoking and every single one of them has requested information on e-cigs to provide to other patients of theirs that are smokers. I gave them all the link to this forum. My family doctor, otoh, just sort of grunted at me when I told him that I had stopped smoking and began vaping instead. Perhaps the difference is that he is in his early 70s while the others are all under 45....?

I told my Dr. about ecigs, and proceeded to show him my eGo. He asked me if he could try it--right there in the exam room! Needless to say, he was impressed. He was thrilled that I had found a way to quit analogs. He knew I had tried nearly all other NRT's without success. I gave him several of my ECF business cards to give out as well. :)

As a side note, I vaped while I was in the hospital for a couple of surgeries. The first time, it wasn't a problem. The nurses were aware I was using my eGo, and they were OK with it. I was told that many patients used ecigs! But the last time I had surgery, the head nurse on my floor told me the hospital had a new policy that prohibited ecigs--and did not want patients to ingest any "stimulants" orally. :?:  IMHO, that's just outrageous! I would think the hospital would promote ecigs, instead of banning them! The nurses weren't pleased by the new rule, either. Apparently, after that, they looked the other way when the patients would vape.
I hope other hospitals will not enact their own ban!

It will depend upon your hospital.

Mine just got gobbled up by a religious organization, and all ecigs are now banned. They *might* let you have a nicotine patch, if your doctor prescribes it. I hope I will have no more surgeries, or that I can find another hospital acceptable to my insurance company that is not owned by this organization. They have most the hospitals in the city, now. And, since I don't exactly agree with them, well, my freedom of religion has been severely tested, just if I need to go to a doctor.

My Doc was glad I tossed the death sticks, but not sure about the PV.

He said, "There's not a lot of research on those things."

Then I told him why there isn't.

Then he asked, "You are eventually going to get rid of that, too, right?"

Then I told him, "If I was choosing between good and bad, obviously the choice to make is good. That's not the choice here: I can smoke, or gain a lot of weight and be miserable, or I can suck on this thing."

He shrugged. I guess that's the best I'm gonna get out of him. Give him time.

I switched to vaping 3 years ago and every doc I have seen since then (primary care, Lung doctor, chiropractor, vascular surgeon, thoracic surgeon and oncologist has had NO issues with it. I was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and the oncologist had no problem with e cigs even though I am looking at surgery and more maybe.

I have multiple doctors for complex health issues. The only one who isn't enthusiastic is my primary care doc, and I would drop him in a minute for other reasons, but it is a matter of driving distances. As is I rarely see him more than once a year for a few prescription reauthorizations, where the specialists I have to see every three months. I tried to educate him a little, but gave up.
