Wow great story and its great your doctor took such a great interest best of luck with the continued use of your Go Go!!!!!
My Dad was a smoker for 50 years before he got so bad he had to quit or he was going to die! He has Congestive heart failure, left ventricular heart disease, copd, and emphysema! He has been having to live with a defib/pacemaker and now he just had open heart surgery and had a LVAD ( heart pump) a Heart mate 2 and has to wear a computer on belt and have two walkman size batterys on each side and has to be hooked up to a Power Module at night. he was a big inspiration for me to quit when i had so much trouble with the gum, patches, Chantix, etc.. I got me a 510-t now I have been cigarette free for over a month! its the longest I have went without a cancer stick for 16years!!! I love vaping and it doesn't even bother Dad!! I figured if i had such a hard time quitting I might as well try one out at least im still getting my nicotine in a healthier way!
I too told my Dr. about quitting smoking (he prescribed the chantix) and he was really interested in my PV too! He actually asked me if it was ok if he asked his recipionst come back into the exam room, for me to explain how it worked! I believe she is a smoker and trying to quit too. But I gave him one of my cards from cignot.com where I got my kit and he was going to make copy's to pass out to his other patients that are smokers! Next visit I will have to give him one from unsmoke.us too (where I order my liquid) very good e-liquid!!
I quit smoking for my final time 16 months ago when I started vaping. I started smoking 55 years ago when I was 15. I had been diagnosed with COPD a few years prior and knew I had to quit or I would soon be on oxygen like my brother and many friends are or were, my brother just died in Jan, because of smoking for over 50 years . I tried my best but although I had quit for five years once and ten years another time I couldn't stay quit this time. I tried other nicotine substitutes but nothing worked until I tried vaping. To make a long story short I went for my annual check up and I was real curious about my lungs and how they were doing. The last time I had my lungs checked the doctor said my lungs sounded like an accordian so I was anxious to find out how they sounded now after vaping for 16 months. I knew I no longer wheezed or coughed but what would they sound like to the doctor. He was amazed and I was delighted because he said they sounded really good. I told him I hadn't had a single cold in 16 months although I take care of my grandkids and they have had lots of colds but I haven't had a single one. I told him I can't prove it but I think it because of the PG I vape. He was real interested in them because this was at the VA hospital and there are many ol vets like me that have COPD. So I pulled out my Go-Go and showed him how it vaped right there in the examining room. He was pretty amazed and wanted to know where I bought them and how much they cost and how often I used it. lol I am going to start carrying cards with me to hand out.
Besides all of that my cholestoral was perfect and my blood pressure was perfect so I'm a happy ol codger today.
((((((( Tx )))))) More hugs for ya! Going to use this story to help others too, if you don't mind. It's an inspiration to all of us. I've gone 6 months smoke free now and have noticed the increased lung ability, and you told me the other day, it just gets better! (I have COPD also, for those who don't know)
Its funny, I was thinking the other day, it's up to us to inform and educate our doctors, no one else seems to be telling them anything. My doc had never heard of e-cigs before and last time I went in, I brought her ECF cards so she could come read about them, also gave her some print outs from the CASAA. She told me she had several other patients she was going to look into this for, because they just haven't been able to quit on any other method she has offered them. She was so impressed with my increased ability after just 6 months, I have no doubt that she will seek out further information about this and perhaps help some of her other patients finally get away from smoking.
So, people ... tell your doctors! Print out some flyers and grab some free ECF cards ($3 shipping) from the store, and inform the health professionals from the grass roots point for a change. The drug companies have been feeding them misinformation for years! Let's tell them the truth about what works!
Peace & Vape On!
I work for a Pulmonologist and he lets me talk to our smoking patients and demonstrate e-cigs in the office. I knew he would never have time to sit down and talk to me about them so I wrote him a letter and enclosed some literature and links. He came back after the next weekend and told me I could do this, so I have been for about 8 months now. Love him!

Good for you johnathon77 and good luck to your brother! Our stories are very similar and way to common in the older generation. We just have to do the best we can with what time we have left and vaping instead of smoking will definately improve our quality of life. I know it has mine. I too quit smoking for 10 years and five years another time. It is different this time though, I know I will never go back to smoking if I am able to vape. Before I knew I could start back to smoking at any time under the right circumstance. It has been 21 months and counting for me!
That is really great to hear dee5! How have the results been have many of the patients started vaping?
I wish now I had started keeping track of who I talked to from the beginning but I didn't so I just have to estimate. I'm guessing about 10 patients have quit smoking and switched to vaping. Not all of our patients are smokers, sometimes it's a family member who still smokes even though the patient has managed to quit and I give them information instead. There are probably another 10 that tried vaping but either didn't like it or became frustrated with it and went back to smoking. Heck, it isn't for everybody but I keep trying.

That's awesome, dee -- I just saw my doc again yesterday and she told me that she has gotten 3 other smokers to try e-cigs based on the info I gave her so she was really happy that 3 more of her patients had quit smoking! I told her where she can get more stuff to print out so that she can pass the info out in the office too. So soon, she'll have E-Cig info in the little bins with all the other pamphlets! That just made my day! One person can make such a huge difference just by sharing their experience!
