It pooped out after a "few years"? To my recollection that mod has only been available for a couple.

Li-ion batteries only have a cycle life of 250 - 300 charges in them. After that they begin to not hold a charge. Sounds like you got your money's worth.

This is why I prefer buying/using mods which use replaceable batteries. I get to choose which battery brand/model I want to use in the mod, and when that battery "poops out" I just buy a new $6 battery instead of having to buy an entire new mod.

I also prefer using a box charger as opposed to onboard USB charging. FYI, the non-replaceable batteries in mods like the iStick are Li-Po chemistry (not safer chemistry), while the replaceable batteries are safer chemistry (IMR, INR).

Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 1
  • For those who want to learn the differences between IMR, IMR/hybrid, ICR, and LiPo batteries. What do those numbers and letters on batteries mean? What's an amp rating and why is it more important than the mAh rating when choosing a battery for vaping?
