Heh. I remember when you were helping me get started you had absolutely no desire to rebuild a coil. You were adamant! I totally get your reasoning for trying it, though. :)

Guilty as charged... :D

I'm looking at your join date--two years ago--dear Lord. Time flies. :)

Yep, that'd be YOU, bud.
But only because we are missing Bike -- who would, of course, have you wearing that blushing pink TUTU! It hugs all your curves .... just so.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
You have to have the body to wear it...and then give it back all wrinkled.

Having rebuilt two coils on my subtank mini RDA, I would now like to offer my expert advice on coils -
Buy four packs of stock coils so you don't run out. haha. :D

Carnegie Hall joke

Rumor is that a pedestrian on Fifty-seventh Street, Manhattan, stopped Jascha Heifetz and inquired,
"Could you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?" "Yes," said Heifetz. "Practice!"

This old joke has become part of the folklore of the hall

That didn't sound right so I just put them on a scale. My 40TC weighed in at 104g and the 30 came in at 92g. I like the heft of the 40TC and it's still very pocketable, imo.
You are correct. I was wrong. Hefted both, ignoring the different tanks.

Think I'm gonna get one of these instead of a coil-master jig:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1878300

Thinking that it'll help me put some tension in coils -- and would serve as a building stand. Wish it had a 2mm rod - but I'd think a drill bit might serve as a substitute.

Nope. Neither do the first two you linked to, which are basically the same in theory but with hard edges and aluminum vs. chrome-plated brass. Don't think I really need caps or screws and the downside to those is that you can't apply tension to the wire. That said the LV price is very good if it's an authentic Coil Master. Many of the Kuro ones at Fastech are not authentic and I've seen comments about crooked shafts, rounded screws instead of straight-sided, crooked feed holes, etc.

I currently do all of my coils by hand on SS rods or drill bits and I don't think I really NEED any of these devices, so no matter which one I choose it's just a man-toy to me anyway. I was even looking at that Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo at Amazon, but the setups don't match the diameters I want.

yepper, that's why I linked those
back when, I made one of such - pushed a nail into a small square length of wood
then pushed a toothpick into it (2mm) and used that for awhile
coil jig 2.png

but as you said, mostly just free handed

I bought one of these recently:
because (like you say) sorta man-toy and because the temperamental nature
of Ti / Ni and the whole TC concept,
it is just a single function and works rather well (consistent)

Cool. That home made rig will work too, but that's more of a tool than a toy. All men must have toys...
