Jerseyman, mine were doing that too at one time so I started looking at them very closely. When it would happen, there would be just a smidge of negative coil leg sticking out. Once I snipped them all very, very close, I didn't have anymore problems and the ohms would stay stable.

By recoil do you mean self made? Do yall just make single coils for them or duals. The only issue I've had rebuilding coils is when I build them and but then on a good ohm meter they read right, but soon as I go to use them the ohms flucuate like crazy in my mod, any solutions I use 28 gauge should I try a different kanthal?

I like 29 or 30 better. You don't need so many wraps to get the resistance you want, which means they also fit better.
