Didn't know if you noticed but when a new post is made to a thread you see the thread turn dark. You already know this but to the left is a little down arrow, by clicking the down arrow it will bring you right to the first new post instead of opening the thread and trying to find the new post.
It took me a little while to find that feature because its really not in a good place.
