Definitely not a "feel good" story. At least they portrayed the guy honestly and showed that this vapor industry guy is NOT part of BT. It felt like they wanted to make a drug connection, and skirted really close a few times, but didn't. It's just a really odd piece.
Think they were just writing a "piece" on the "downtrodden" in a small southern town, and rather than start it off in a bar just used a vape shop instead.
Yeah, the smarter ones in the community are vaping/involved in vaping for livelihood and not doing or turning to what many in the same boat unfortunately are. Drug use, drug biz, alcohol for recreational and therapeutic reasons.
Seen a lot of stories like this written about the old Pennsylvania/New England mill towns, after the mills closed down in the 1980s. Most of them used one of the neighborhood bars as a backdrop. This one used a vape shop. Same basic story, just a different setting, and cast of characters.
If I could suggest a soundtrack, it would be "Allentown" by Billy Joel, and "Your Hometown" by Bruce Springsteen.
