He is affiliated with the industry, so his opinions can be taken as biased.

Same as when he was Surgeon General. In fact, the fact that he was Surgeon General should make one suspect, rather than be used as some hypocritical attack as if he was once objective and now he isn't. He didn't change that much. lol Perhaps promoting what some might call a safer alternative regardless of his own interests.

Not only that, he was the Surgeon General responsible for the 2006 2nd-hand smoke report that said "no safe level" and immediately spawned the 3rd-hand smoke lies, along with more draconian bans and taxes. He brought the level of corruption in the office up a few notches, greatly contributing to the attacks on THR.

Actually, although he may have 'reinforced' that 'no safe level' (or heightened it) - that goes back to 1993 EPA and a Surgeon General who was more busy making a fool of herself than being concerned with 2nd hand smoke. Although I'm sure a few notices made it out of her office.

I look at him like I look at other TC turned THR types - I like that they changed their focus to ecigs and that there should be less doubts about their conflicts vs. anyone getting gov't grants from the FDA - perhaps even more since they do it under the guise of "public health' when many of their studies and proposals and the effects that they may create with legislation, will lead to less health and likely a black market.

I appreciate any voices from the PH field who hope ecigs can be made successful because there are so few of them. It's obvious that practically everybody in the public health want ecigs to fail regardless of the merits. To me that's not confusing, it's scary. When people act this way it's always about the money and there's more than enough money to account for all this. If there is a more subtle influence it escapes me.
