I don't know much about MRSA. What other options are there if the antibiotics don't work? I almost hate to ask.

It's a type of staph infection. I know it can be fatal, worst case. Once they run out of antibiotics to try, I don't know what the range of other options are. I know it's scary though.

She will be in my thoughts and prayers. Let's hope the stronger meds will get the job done. Lets hope our medical community has reserved an antibiotic just for this occasion. One that hasn't been introduced to the masses that becomes ineffective. Keep us posted.

Army, please pray for a quick sale. And especially for my oldest daughter. She's a CNA and works in the Altzheimers unit at a nursing home. A few weeks ago she started treatment for a cyst on her wrist. It wouldn't heal completely, and when they tested it, they found it was MRSA. It's very resistant to the antibiotics. She was hospitalized again early this week and had to have a PICC line put in for the stronger antibiotics.
Prayers sent..That's the musical daughter amitite?!? No matter she's in my thoughts and prayers..Sending positive energy your way as well.

These posts bring back some very bad memories for me , MRSA killed my sister shortly after Katrina . Her immune system was already compromised from diabetes and the antibiotics they had at the time didn't work so they kept cutting to try to get rid of it . I've already read April's post so I'll pray it works for your daughter LA .

Oh Lori, my thoughts and prayers are going out for you, and your family. Those infections are really bad. My daughter got one several years ago. It took two procedures to get it out. They can't close it up, after they get it out either. So they have to clean it, put fresh gauze in, clean it...more gauze. She still has a scar from it. First they said it was MRSA, then they said it wasn't. She was hospitalized with it, and that is where they did the procedures. It takes a long time to heal without closing it up, but it is the only way.

Papaw, I don't remember if I told you Witch Hazel helps with itching too. Somehow I got into something on my left hand. It is just like poison ivy. Even my face was itching last night. I have no idea what I touched. I used the Fels-Naptha soap, and the Calamine Lotion today. Washed my hands again, and put Witch Hazel on it...just soaked it. Weird, the Fels-Naptha with cold water seemed to make it feel better than anything else. I have it on two fingers, and the palm of my hand. That means it is going to be very easy to accidentally touch something else, and spread this. The itch factor is pretty darn high. Did you ever get over your episode yet?

@retic1959 im so sorry to hear about your sister. That must have been such a horrible time for you (and everyone involved). I'm sure they didn't have the facilities to culture it or supplies etc. to properly care for her.

About a month after Katrina we had the sweetest travel nurse that relocated from the area. Most hospitals had made openings for people that needed to make a living while their home was being assessed and rebuilt. She kept working thru it all, her stories were heartbreaking. People dying from things that we could normally treat.

Sending you a big hug.

That's a real sad story. And that diabetes sucks! So many opportunities to exacerbate other health problems like in your sister's case. I'm sorry to hear this story Retic. May your sis rest in peace for eternity and I know some day you will see her again and she wont have diabetes anymore. I'm certain that was the first thing God took care of when he held her in his arms.

Good morning Army

Looks like we are going to be having another event on ECF! Prizes! 15 millionth ECF post... | E-Cigarette Forum

Do you remember where you were the night of the last huge milestone? I sure do  It will be interesting for me this time. I wasn't a moderator back then. LOL.
Wow, that is a lot of posts! Which milestone are you referring to, Robin, the 10 millionth post?

@Robino1 Not only do not remember where I was, I don't remember it happening!

Good morning! Gorgeous day here too. Wish I didn't have a full day of errands in front of me and could fully enjoy it. At least I'll be out and about.
I'm with you, don't even know which milestone we're talking about or when it happened. :D

Hi April! We are in non-stop mode. The work for work deal didn't pan out so we are doing as much as we can ourselves. So far, with my brother's help, we have:

Torn down the shed
Removed the wood railing on the front porch and replaced a post
Finished putting in railings on the steps going from the back door (FYI - stair railings are a massive challenge to install! We started 4 years ago. I drilled the cement to put in the posts and it took me two years to get the courage to do that.)
Thoroughly cleaned the garage and moved our boxes out there. (A little over half a ton of stuff.)
Painted the laundry room and kitchen
And much more...

Today is the living room. We rock! Next Wednesday they will be here to do the video for the listing. So it's a big push to get done by then.
Yup, you guys DO rock! Best of luck on the sale & move.

@retic1959 sorry to hear about your sister. We had a similar situation here with the big flood of 2011. Sixty-five of Thailand's 77 provinces (over 2 thirds of the country) were declared flood disaster zones, and over 20,000 square kilometres (7,700 sq mi) of farmland was damaged.

Oh, I am so very sorry, Retic. So much painful loss. Hugs going out to you.

Thanks all, for your prayers. I heard back from her and so far the meds are working. Her nurse friend comes by regularly to clean and redress it. Here's hoping. When my third oldest was 3 yrs old, I spent two weeks in the hospital with her. She had aspiration pneumonia. It took 2 surgeries and the best antibiotics they had at the time to cure her. The infectious disease specialist said if it had been 5 years earlier, she would have died because they didn't have antibiotics strong enough to treat her infection. I'm with April, I wish docs would stop overusing antibiotics, and that people would use them appropriately. Scary stuff.

That's good news , LA glad to hear it's responding to the meds .
