Ever since the Atlantis hit the shelves the whole industry went sports vaping. Hardly any 2015 product is catered towards MTL vapers.

This post is inspired by pbursados recent review of the Triton tank, where he raves about the 1.8Ohm coil head. I have no doubt to believe him it works well, but honestly this head looks just ridiculous. That coil would fit a housing a 1/4 of the size. The same goes for the higher Ohm Subtank heads. They even put an extra inlay in the head so the coil doesn't get totally lost. But then again the AFC on these tanks is pretty much impossible to finetune for MTL.

I don't think those tanks make sense being used as a hybrid for both DL and MTL. From the MTL standpoint those Subohm tanks are just a waste of space: A Smaller head would allow for more juice capacity. The chimney / shaft could be both narrower and longer - again more juice capacity. AFC could be made smaller - again more juice capacity.

The RTA situation is quite similar. It just doesn't work well when the coil sits on top a 4mm air hole. The air gets lost before it ever has a chance to hit the coil properly. At least put some PEEK / Teflon reducers in the box.

The new version of the Coil Master has now removed the <2mm rods. What to wrap our coils with now?

It's good to see at least Eleaf continuing development on the GS series. Also Kanger has refreshed the Protank heads, but where is the Protank V4, Nautilus V2 etc.

It'd be nice if we'll see some new MTL only devices out there. I'd start with
- 16mm/19mm Clearos / RTAs with .4mm - 2mm click-in-place AFC (on ONE side only :))
- 1-2mm diameter BVC heads (1-2 Ohm), SS housing
- itty bitty 20W TC tubes & boxes
- 1.2/1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0 mm Coil Master MTL version

What coil master? I have the coil master v3 and there is a 1.5mm rod still. I've never seen someone build with anything smaller than that though.

I have a tank I'll probably put in the classifieds when I quit slacking and do it. The Calix. It's a tank where the airflow comes in from the 510. A bit pricey new though.

I have said this in other places but I am completely over companies that change their product that I use to something worse. I use three basic TP setups. Boge LR cartos (that are slowly disappearing from shelves) aspire BVC 2.1ohm coils (the pre cotton wicked ones) in my BB's and Sophia's. The new aspire BVC coils do not work with my fairy MT, vaping style, they flood and gurgle and drive me insane. I have managed to amass a supply of the old ones but when they run out I am going to have to travel the path of discovery again. The only thing that will still be completely reliable is my Soohia rebuildable cartos because I take out the hit and miss of mass market product. We seem to be spoilt for choice with all this new product coming out but when you actually look it is all big air, low ohm DL. Nothing that suits my vaping style. 3 sec vapes flood just about everything.

$9.06 Coil Master 5-in-1 E-Cigarette Wire Coil Winder - blue / 2 + 2.5 + 3 + 3.5 + 4mm poles at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Must be a clone then I guess. Anyway It'd be nice to have more options on the smaller side of diameters

I recently saw Grimms review.
I have to say though on average I had better results with rebuilt Protank heads than with RTAs.

There is a lot of great MTL hardware out there WickedWicks and more coming all the time. You posted where to find out about it :)
You got me, that thread gets posted to faster than one can read.
I think I've looked quite a bit for new gear though. Can you post some 2015 gear I missed apart from GS Series, eGrip OLED (basically GS too), Kanger S/VOCC.
I can't quite believe the situation is as bright as you say. Or am I just blinded by the clouds?

I've only started after cartos were popular, so I've never tried them. But I can feel you it must suck having to give up what's always been working fine. For me the Aspire BVCs work fine though, both the new and old ones. I'm running 1.6Ohm in the eGrip.

Not sure if it qualifies as "gear" and I'm just using an EVOD, but I definitely get a better MTL experience by closing off two of the three tiny air holes. And that's assuming MTL means mouth to lung - because that's in the glossary I'm looking at but the acronym isn't.

I'm going to make a lanyard attachment loop thingie - with oogoo - that can be adjusted to block either one or two holes.

Of course, that's not fancy but I'm new and mostly focused on "not smoking" which, at this point, means making it more like smoking a cigarette. Nevertheless, one tiny air hole is a huge improvement over three, in my personal experience, and I think that's going to be important when I upgrade. Not sure how much adjustment there is in a Nautilus Mini flow controller, but it's definitely something I'm going to check. And at this point, I can make all the adjustments I want, just with methods of using the EVOD.

Currently, I'm just wrapping my index finger around the band for the coil head to block those holes but it's awkward and their tiny and my reading glasses aren't strong enough to let me see them properly, so I'm going to just make my own air flow controller.

Initially, I thought there wasn't enough air and I was going to ream out one of the holes and see if that helped, but covering them makes for the perfect, cigarette-like draw.

HA! I just wrapped a rubber band around the coil section - works perfect! So all I gotta do is find some better looking rubber bands, ROFL!

Ocelot it stands for Mouth To Lung

I hear this all the time about the Subtanks... Im a staunch MTL vaper and the NEW Subtanks (the black and white ones) at thier smallest air flow setting are PERFECT MTL tanks! I use them everyday! I build a 1.2 ohm coil on the RBA section and its perfect!!

I know this is a little pricey, but Zen from House of Hybrids has developed a really nice, high end tank, that uses Aspire coils. His logic was that the silent majority do not sub ohm and a lot of the tanks were cheap crap. He says he developed this tank specifically for the best flavor and tested lots of existing coils for the best flavor producer combined with his tank.

It's the Kabuki Tank. Available here: 510 Kabuki Tank

One alternative.

Totally agree the industry is missing not developing much new stuff for a large group of vapers who like mouth to lung hits at lower power and variable air draw that can be adjusted for a tight draw. 1.2 to 2.0 ohm coils, no leak tanks (and no vent holes in the tank battery pin), And Most of all find a way to stop the gurgling that occurs after the tank has been filled a day or two especially when it's hot and humid outside. And the cotton wick holes are too big or too many!

Nautilus mini and the new GS Air tank are pretty good for mouth to lung hits and tighter draws with the variable air flows but improvements to prevent gurgling, especially when it's hot outside and the liquid thins, are needed.

There are a ton of RTAs for M2L vapors. And, yes, new ones are still coming out, but they aren't necessarily cheap. However, I can easily suggest some that are, and nicely machined to boot.

As for those large heads on the Triton, might that make them easier to rebuild? Honestly, rebuilding a tiny Protank coil would require magnification for me, and probably a migraine.

That's interesting about "when it's hot outside". I hadn't considered that.

Also, I think that hitting it with only one tiny hole open isn't a good idea because now I'm getting liquid in the tube.

One of the reasons my favorite toppers are still my Kayfuns, T3S and PT2 (and Davide equivalents)...

I was looking at some kayfun lite videos and I think I'm going to get one of those instead of a Nautilus mini. THAT way I can sort of practice because I NEED a Kraken because...ya know...then I can say, "Release the Kraken!!!". LOL

I am just very happy to have found my perfect MTL setup before the Industry went all juice guzzling sub ohm.

I don't think I could have quit smoking if I had to start vaping with lung hitting.

I agree totally, I was a pipe smoker for 50 years the last thing I would ever do will a pipe is a lung hit! Taifun GT or GT 2 1.5-2 ohm 7 watts Tottle Puffing is bliss.
