Help with Jazz Shorty Pipe

I have a Jazz Shorty Pipe from Romaniac and recently it has been acting up. The inner tube for the switch pole melted a bit and I took it out to cut off the melted bit, but that ruined the whole thing. Do I need the plastic tube inside as a buffer? I know it heightens the spring so it can do that properly. I need help, this is my only mod and i need it fixed ASAP.
