Im looking to do a dual 18650 sx350j in a hammond 1550p. Basically a very tight fit. Don't really want to wait for a 3d printed sled. What could you use to attach battery contacts to and still make the batteries removable?
Mabey krylon true seal a rubberized spray, or liquid electrical tape. Had a question along the lines of OP question, does the negative battery spring need to be insulated or can you solder directly to the metal base?
I use PCB board and solder a good spring (ProVari 3 last time, even a flat spring) to the -ve side, you can use sugru behind if you need to stand off from the case.
In this pic a the pcb is the width of the case with the 510 bolting straight to it under some sugru, -ve at the top as I would rather that it vented away from my face if that ever happened.
