Our driveway:

and front yard from the road:

Kinda reminiscent of a big snow storm up north. But those melt. Sand doesn't.

Amazingly, our house only took on a few inches of water on the first floor, but it was enough that it started wicking up into the drywall and the insulation behind it, which means pulling enough of it to be sure the walls can dry thoroughly. Allowing mold to grow is no bueno.

Although we had someone dig out the driveway and the area immediately surrounding the house before we got here, yesterday afternoon, we got started digging out the rest of the yard. The figured it would only take a few hours. They were wrong. They're still at it and are probably only half done.

    Instant lawn. Just add water:

Up north, we would seed a lawn. But here, that's apparently not feasible.
After doing my own lawn maintenance year round down here, for the last 5 years, I thought after seeing your photos, that I would like to have the "no maintenance" sand look...:)

Glad things are getting back to normal over there tho....:thumb:

The sand was actually starting to sprout assorted weeds and was depressing to look at.

Since I'm not here full-time, I don't do the lawn maintenance myself.

Thanks! We still have a ways to go with the house itself and the rest of the landscaping, but having a bit of greenery back is really improving our spirits.
