Erm, doesn't seem to be an edit tab, just wanted to add that it looks like your FDA has done a fine job of spreading the fear about e-cigs...yet I am pretty damn sure that I have use PP to purchase tobacco smoking suplies in the past...

Your not in the UK so there is no issues for you. This is about people in the US.

Sorry, can't post quotes yet.

I've a question though. Shouldn't you then be able to sue them since they nor the FDA can prove that eliquid is a drug? What if it contained 0mg? They are inhibiting commerce without conclusive evidence. Seems to me like there should be some sort of justice to this.

I'm really sorry for your troubles. Please, if you will, keep updating as to what goes on. I'm very interested. Thank you

Geez....really sorry to hear that DM :(

I recall somebody mentioning this site as a similar alternative to Paypal: https://www.alertpay.com/index.aspx

I have not tried it nor really looked into it but if anyone does, please report back. It might be a viable means to boycott Paypal as well.

After Central Trade quit accepting PP, I had to pay them through Western Union. It's a pain because it costs the buyer an additional fee to do so but at least it got through without question.

Hope you can figure out something that works. We're all in the same boat here folks and we need to find alternatives.

Good grief. I hope someone has a good alternative to Paypal for electronic payment and will post it in both threads. I'd love to dump them, but it is the only way I can pay other than Western Union or sending a check!

Some of the on line casino users refer to https://www.ikobo.com/

Has anyone used or checked this out?

Unfortunately, no, you cannot sue a company for something like this. A private sector company has the right to choose who they do and do not conduct business, especially a 'service' company like PayPal. The Terms of Usage/Conduct are there as more of a 'guide' for the end-user, rather than something legally binding on both participating parties (i.e. the end-user AND PayPal).

That's awful that they're doing that though based on the suggested finding of a preliminary study done by the FDA. What's even more disconcerting is this talk of prescription drug. e-Liquid isn't being contested as a new prescription drug, it's being contested as a new drug altogether. So PayPal tossing it into the bin of prescription drugs seems rather egregious on their part.

Sorry about your loss DaMulta, hopefully you can find some sort of workaround!

That sucks! I have been using paypal and ebay for about 10 years now and I had no idea paypal had this policy...
But all you have to do is open another checking account and just remember, when you open a new acct, do NOT use your own PC, borrow someone else's or go to one of those internet cafes or starbucks or something. It really doesn't matter, you don't have to change your name, but if it makes you feel better, just eliminate your middle initial or something. I'm assuming you had a business acct? That's what I have and it doesn't even show my name, just my business name. so, it's pretty easy to change your name slightly... Hope that helps!

Direct merchant account, similar fees to paypal, money goes directly to your bank.
It was created by the guys who used to run paypalsucks.com

Well here is what I got back from Alertpay, when I asked them; Since they restrict tobacco products, if they restrict e-cigs... seems a little harsh to me...

Hello Mr. Raven,

My name is xxxxxxx and on behalf of the Business Development team, I thank you for your interest in AlertPay.

AlertPay can provide you with service. However, please know that certain conditions apply to your industry type. The following are our guidelines for e-cigarette sellers:

1) All e-Cigarette merchants must sign up for a Business account.
2) As a new merchant you are subject to a 3 month probationary period*
3) Payments are subject to our restricted fee structure which is as follows:
a) All AlertPay balance payments are subject to a fee of 3.9% + $0.59 per transaction.
b) All credit card payments are subject to a fee of 6.4% + $0.59 per transaction.
4) All credit card payments will be held for 7 days before being released during probation period.
5) Mastercard payments will be prohibited on the payment page due to rules set forth by Mastercard. (Visa & AMEX are available).

*Probation period entails no withdrawals within the first 30 days followed by the implementation of a rolling reserve** to cover any possible chargebacks or refunds. The reserve will start at 10% of all revenue. This reserve can be removed when good standing with AlertPay has been achieved.

**Rolling reserve for high risk merchant account is a percentage of your total sales which is withheld by a credit card processor for six months in respect of possible future chargebacks. In month seven of your trading your rolling reserve will be released to you for the first month of trading, in month eight your reserve will be released for month 2, so you will always have a reserve of six months due to you by AlertPay.

As a buyer, I would rather snail-mail a US postal money order to a retailer. The seller has real money as soon as it hits their hands, and if I find that the seller is a scammer, then it constitutes interstate mail fraud*, which is investigated by the FBI :thumb:

*this is, of course, assuming that the buyer and seller are in different states
