Hello everyone,

100%VG here, back with another review. This one will cover the iJoy Captain PD270 Box Mod and the iJoy 20700 Battery. I have an iJoy Captain PD270 Box Mod in Black and four iJoy 20700 batteries on the way from Urvapin. I should get the package on Monday or Tuesday.

The iJoy Captain PD270 Box Mod was designed to use 20700 batteries, but it comes with two 18650 Battery Adapter Tubes, so you don't have to purchase new batteries if you don't want to. However, there is an advantage to using 20700s for High Wattage Vaping - more on that later.

And there's more great news... there are multiple 18650 Chargers that will accept and charge a 20700. That makes using the iJoy Captain PD270 Box Mod with two 20700s even more attractive! I'll be posting more on that later. I have a compiled list of acceptable Chargers.

The iJoy Captain PD270 Box Mod was given to me by Urvapin to review. I purchased the four iJoy 20700 Batteries from them.

Do you know the dimensions of the Captain? If you have a Fuchai Duo, could you take a pic of them side by side? I'm trying to decide on a high wattage mod for 30mm tanks. I love the small form factor of the Duo, but worry that it is underpowered.

Sadly enough, many Sigelei Mods are underpowered, but IDK if that one is. I don't have the Captain PD270 yet, but I'll see what I can find about its testing results.

Let's talk about the iJoy 40A 3000mAh 20700.

Mooch posted his test findings here. Brief Summary:
This is an overrated 20700 cell that performs well. [overrated because the label says 40A]
I am rating this iJoy at 30A and 3000mAh. Its maximum vaping amps (MVA) rating is 40A, limited by temperature.
Please see his thread for complete information.

These are cropped pictures from the Urvapin website:

This picture shows the 18650 Adapter Tubes. The tubes are joined into a single adapter.

18%20iJoy%2020700%20and%2018650%20Size%20Comparison.jpg

For anyone who doesn't know, the 18650 battery spec defines the size as 18mm in diameter by 65.0mm long. Therefore, a 20700 will be 20mm in diameter by 70.0mm long (by spec).

Mooch tested some Chargers in this thread: Chargers that fit 20700-sized batteries
My ongoing list of the conversation there got corrupted somehow, so I'll be working on a list that modifies his initial post, and adds chargers that other user's have found to either work or not. That'll take me a while to recover. But when I have it, I'll post it.

Ok so clearly this mod is superior to the Fuchai Duo. Power curve capability, higher amps, more mAh, higher max wattage. But with a higher price plus the need to buy new batteries (I'd want 4), decently more expensive.
Check out this link for the Mod with two iJoy 20700:
Authentic iJoy Captain PD270 234W TC Box Mod
You can get the Black one with two 20700 for $67.99. The Mod by itself is $45.99. This is a limited time offer.
They have the iJoy 20700 Batteries available separately here.

You should really take a look at the 20700 battery test results that Mooch has posted.
Threads started by Mooch.
Look through the list for 20700.
If one of my existing chargers is 20700 compatible it would be easier to stomach.
You can read through Chargers that fit 20700-sized batteries for some answers.

Is that a US shipper? 3A vape has the mod + batteries for 49 but you have to use expensive shipping

FT will ship it with the batteries, you just have to choose PostNL, 2 dollar upgrade :)
To Canada anyway :)

I found an email address for DJLsb Vapes, and I sent him a request for a review of theCaptain PD270. I love his detailed reviews and extensive testing. When he makes one for this, it should answer any and all questions about the Mod. :)
I love Phil Busardo's, too, but he takes so long in getting around to making one on a new device. :(

Mooch’s ECF thread on 20700 Battery Chargers
Chargers that fit 20700-sized batteries

I've been getting a lot of requests for a list of chargers that fit the new 20700-sized (20mm diameter, 70mm length) batteries that are becoming available.

Here's a list of chargers that fit the Sanyo NCR20700A/B, iJoy 20700, and Ampking 20700 batteries. A couple are a tight squeeze though so you need to keep the wraps in perfect condition (good advice for any battery though).

Mooch’s List:
Basen BS1 (barely fits)
Basen BS-2
Basen BS-4
Efest LUC V4 (User comment: slots are over 70mm)
Efest LUC V6 (please see User's Posts & comments)
Efest SODA
E-SYB S6
HohmTech HohmBase
XTAR SV2

Please note:

  • I have not tried any other chargers.
  • I do not know if I will be trying any other chargers or when.
  • I do not know if these chargers will fit any other 20700 or 21700 batteries, but they should.
  • I cannot guarantee that you will be able to use these chargers with these batteries, only that I was able to.
If you have personally used any other chargers successfully with 20700 batteries, please feel free to respond below with the charger name/model number and which battery.

Note from me: You may post your chargers with your comments here and I'll update the thread for you, or you can post them with your comments in his ECF thread (linked above).

User’s Posts: (and comments)
Efest LUC V6 - No
This was a surprise, as the LUC V4 and LUC Blu6 have very long springs that do fit. It's not even close to fitting.
Efest LUC Blu6 - Yes … (slots are over 70mm)
GyrFalcon All-44 - Yes
GyrFalcon All-44 and All-88 fit the Panasonic/Sanyo NCR20700B fine. I had 4 of them in all 4 slots, charging at 1A.
GyrFalcon All-44 will fit 4 20700s comfortably (both length and width) and charge all 4 at 1 Amp (or at 0.1, 0.25, or 0.5 Amps).
GyrFalcon All-88 - Yes
LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500 - Yes
And it’s a great analytical charger also. Review of LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500 Charger
Nitecore D2/D4 - Yes and No
No - The battery wrap rubs slightly against the contacts of the D4. With four 20700 in the D4,
........the whole thing kind of looks like it's all been molded into place.
Yes - In Newer D4 models, the 20700s do fit. Looks like it depends on the Batch number.
Said to work are: Slightly older, 2015, and 2016 models.
Nitecore NEW i4 - Yes
I purchased a Nitecore NEW i4 (not to be confused with the i4). There is some actual breathing space around 20700s.
The new I4 is officially listed as compatible with 20700 on NC's site.
Opus 3100 V2.2 - Yes
I have to say, I am head over heels with this Opus charger. It does proper mAh tests (charge, discharge, then charge), and can do 2 Amp charging on 2 channels or 4x 1 Amp. The batteries stay more cool than any of my other chargers (because of the built in fan). It charged my AAs [NiMH] better than all the others, too. With the OPUS, the recharged batteries are just as bright as the alkaline disposables. Great charger. I tested all 3 of my Aspire 2500mAh batteries doing the full test, and they came out to 2514mAh, so I am guessing it does a good job at that too. Room to spare with the 20700s, no fidgeting required.
Soshine SH-C4 - Yes
Xtar Dragon VP4 - Yes
Xtar SP2 - Yes (works)
Xtar VC4 - Yes
Xtar VP4 - Yes
The Xtar VP4 works great with Sanyo 20700A and iJoy 20700. However, it's somewhat tight on the length and you can't fit 2 side by side in the middle bays.

If you like your Mods and Tanks to have matching colors, have a look at the Captain DP270 paired with the iJoy Captain 25mm 4ml Subohm Tank in some matchy matchy, side by side. Will this spark your Shinyitis? :D

19%20Captain%20PD270%20with%20Captain%204ml%20Subtank.jpg

Need it to hold more juice? This a Rainbow Captain DP270 with a Rainbow iJoy CIGPET ECO 12 Subohm Tank. That's 6.5ml of juice capacity in a 28mm tank. And there's an optional RTA Deck for it, too. Now we're getting somewhere!

20%20Captain%20DP270%20Raibow%20and%20iJoy%20CIGPET%20ECO%2012%20Subohm%20Tank.jpg

Ooooh, Ahhhhh. Shinyitis!

The 2nd picture shows how faded the top pictures is, but that was the only one I found.

Darn good lookin' mod, Brother! I've been slightly curious about this new battery form factor, but honestly haven't looked into it too deeply. I quickly became disenchanted with the 26650 batts because of amp ratings. But it looks like this 20700 may be the best of both worlds! High amp rating combined with decent mAh ratings?!!? You just might convince me to jump on that! :D
