Internal battery mod modded for external

So i have a smok osub plus 80w with internal batteries and had an idea, converting it to use external/replaceable batteries instead of internal batteries. Has anyone done something like this? Maybe not with this mod, but with another regulated internal battery mod? I typed a few different ways to say it in the search bar, and google, but couldnt find anything.

Insomnia makes me think too much lol.

I was having issues with a 65w smoke mod. Not sure of its name, it was given to me. So I took the bottom plate off to check it out and it had an 18650 in it. Swap that and it was fine. But maybe yours is the same way. If so you can swap batts no problem

The internal batteries are taped into a plastic holder piece (2x 18650), and I'm guessing connections are soldered. You could probably make a battery pack with molex or similar disconnects.

Was there anything you had to do to swap it? Sounds like it was an already replaceable battery mod if not. Mines fine now since its only few months old, but i know eventually its either going to crap out, not last long per charge, or not take or hold a charge. Thats the main reason i want to mod it for replaceable cells.


Ok cool. That doesnt seem like it would be too difficult. Im pretty good at tinkering lol. Thank you for the info. Prob something i should hold off on until the warranty is up incase something happens before its up so its not void lol

I would definitely wait til warranty is up. This video at 22:20 shows one disassembled, and he puts it back together, no disassembly shown though.
